There was a smaller population in Scandinavia than in Greece and low population density. They didn't have large settlements or cities and palaces. The chiefs or kings lived in large longhouses similar to the Vikings.

Romanticism is the origin of everything that's bad and corrupt in modern society.

Is this like a butterfly effect comment? Romanticism was abandoned decades and decades ago

Germany probably ranks among the top three countries with the richest artistic history. You don't need to post one painting to refute whatever brownoids with an inferiority complex are blabbering.

They still lack of great original painters, architects and sculpters. All nations have artists, not all nations have great names. England and Germany are quintessential examples of countries with a lot of artists bit without great names.

I remember being very surprised a German made this painting. Absolutely beautiful. I think the reason I really thought this is because it seems so in tuned with American Individualism with Manfest Destiny and Providence as God's Kingdom being up for the main character seems to be the theme. Later, I learned the reason he did this was indeed a Christian, a Romantic, and loved the German landscape, with themes of melancholy that are very popular in American art, like Hopper.
