Why did multiculturalism fail in the West?

People in the west hate others and generally consider themselves superior. The only exception to this are the leftist types who see value in someone else's food and holidays but nothing more even there. Even something as simple as clothing breaks the mind of the western man universally. They will ban it and force you to dissolve your community so you can integrate into a different race version of the same thing they are. Nothing else but cultural domination is acceptable. There are very few cultures who can resist this imperialist desire even in their own homelands, the intolerance is just that strong. Of course this applies to more than just what people wear, but that is the most outwardly visible cultural marker and a good indication of the dynamics behind it all.

things were bad in the 60s-70s, things started getting better in the 80s-90s. 2000s was probably peak of race relations. then obama became president.....instead of race blind patriotism it became "you are inherently evil just for being born white"
the rise of extremist identity politics, i think maybe they thought obama had won forever, there would never be a republican or white male president again, so they could go mask off. then trump came down the escalator

Too many non-whites came in. I think Liberal Democracies work best when they are racially homogenous as it creates unity amongst the people and weakens the issue of identity politics and people voting purely on racial lines. Some people might point out that America became ethnically diverse with Irish, German, Italian etc immigrants, but those ethnicites were very successfully integrated into the overarching White identity of America. Now you've got people coming in who quite frankly look extremely different to the natives and share very little in common. In the USA, there are no more electoral sweeps where the entire country and the vast majority of states vote for a single candidate because everyone votes on racial/ethnic lines.

I'd say the best way for America to survive is to do what they did before, and try to integrate Hispanics into the broader White identity.

Multiculturalism always fails in social cohesion. Social cohesion comes from shared cultures and beliefs and multiculturalism is by definition the opposite of that.
However since most people do naturally look for social cohesion what you get is cultural ghettos from immigrants, in addition to the already existing ones of course.
I'm not sure if increased surveillance can be attributed to multiculturalism, if anything it's a useful scapegoat to help justify the increase to the public.
