Your sins aren't even yours, but those of your ancestors (the evil original ultimate super evil sin of eating from the tree of knowledge). This is just critical race theory but even more Jewish, pure evil.

The general answer usually has to do with Old Testament laws and symbolism a 1st century Jew would have understood.

>I would never let another man suffer on my behalf.
Not up to you.
>Yet, this is the FOUNDATION of Christianity: substitutionary atonement (an innocent man suffering for the guilty)
Penal substitution is just one Soteriological theory among many, although a very prominent one.
>How did so many become so selfish and immoral
Human beings are inherently selfish and immoral, and let me remind you that it was German pagans who first converted to Christianity, are you calling them selfish and immoral?
>How do you Chrisitans think it is ok that someone else suffered and died for YOUR "sins"?
Because He loves me, so I cherish, honor and appreciate His sacrifice, the one that He did before I was ever born.

When? Armenia and Ethiopia were the firat officially Christian nations, and it was known that it was groups of Jews and lower class Romans who first converted, along with groups of Persians and Indians along the Malabar coast. It's statistically probable that there were Germanic pagans in Roman urbsn centres at about 60 AD, but they weren't among the first.

They are the groups that converted during the dawn of Christianity, and I mean specifically its first 500 years. Christianity has existed for almost 2000 years, remember?

The point is that it isn't fair. Jesus did it because he loved you. Idk anything about the person but if you have good parents you should understand the concept (dad suffers at work to pay for your food and shelter, mom suffers over a hot stove and suffers to clean shit all day).

No Christian chooses Jesus to suffer for us, but Jesus did because he loves us. We can either accept his gift or deny it.

Only as his living body do his people have hope of salvation, able then to do in his name, in God's name, that which must be done to secure the eternal life of his people. For this, he was willing to go to the cross, and there defeated death on our behalf.

Only by explaining it wrong can you hope to lead his people from their salvation.

Low key Jordan Peterson is right about Christ (if you're arguing from an atheist perspective) - the man sacrificing himself for the greater good is most based and heroic archetype.
Ask Varg if he would sacrifice his life if it would mean he could save white europe (or whatever he's arguing for). Or if he would view another man who would do such thing as a hero.

Of course I could answer that, but why bother answering an atheist?

Indeed, those who disbelieve - it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe.

It's a new heroic archetype for the common man. The last shall be first and the first shall be last. He's like Buddha but better, Buddha was a prince who dissociated from reality.

it'd be a dick move to make a creature prone to sin and suffering and give them no way out of it, it'd also be a dick move to judge them if you created them with a possibility of sin while not living like them.
Judaism and christianity has the starting assumption that God is initial perfection and good and that he made us to be something with free will. Free will means not being that perfect good.

why does jesus get so much credit? If I could give everyone eternal happiness in heaven in exchange for a couple of days of excruciating pain, that would be the easiest decision of my life. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if you didn't do it, you are either extremely pathetic or just evil

Jesus is more advanced as a philosopher than a divine figure. As a divine he's sort of pedestrian, which you point out -- but when you consider that God isn't real and religion has always been a way of translating high concepts to low minds, Jesus was a truly great man. State-serving religions could've dominated forever, it's a match made in hell. Jesus said no, the church glorifies humanity and thus god, who made us in his image, not the church.

Jesus is God. As the Illyad and Oddessy make abundantly clear, gods have no obligation to do anything for mortals. Christ is God and loves us enough that even though he has no obligation to mortals he died for us regardless.

Think about it in terms of you building a world in a video game and then letting yourself be tortured to death to save that video game world. That's the equivalency here.
