The fact it's in past tense already makes a difference. The general Islamic conception has been that Jews are prophet-killers and something between heretics and apostates.

Jews should never have been allowed to name their country "Israel." They aren't "Israel."

Most of the Quran is in past tense. IRC Allah uses past tense when talking about the day of judgement.

Why wouldn't they be considered blessed? Muhammad was taking orders from someone else.
>Tell them, “The Holy Spirit has revealed it from your Lord in Truth, so that it might strengthen the believers, providing guidance and good news to all who have surrendered themselves to Allah [Muslims].” And We certainly know well what they are saying; “A human being is teaching him what to say.” The language of the one they allude to is a foreign one, whereas this is in clear and lucid Arabic.
Allah made sure that everyone knew that the person who Muhammad was spending his time with didn't speak Arabic!

>11 Hadith also report on the “Greater Signs” of the end, which include the appearance of the Antichrist (Dajjal) and the reappearance of the prophet Jesus to join in battle with him at Dabbiq in Syria, as well as the arrival of the Mahdī, the “guided one.” As another hadith attributed to Alī ibn Abī Talib puts it, “Most of the Dajjal’s followers are Jews and children of fornication; God will kill him in Syria, at a pass called the Pass of Afiq, after three hours are gone from the day, at the hand of Jesus".
