so the real verse is
>“Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”
which is said to brothers of the lord (peter, john, james) and the very next event, six days later, is the Transfiguration.
Where Jesus takes Peter John and James to a mountain and literally steps into his kingdom with Moses and Elijah.
I'd say he kept his word.

You can't prove that the author of John isn't still alive somewhere.

John 21:20-24
Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, “Lord, who is going to betray you?”) When Peter saw him, he asked, “Lord, what about him?”

Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.” Because of this, the rumor spread among the believers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?”

This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life."

Maybe he meant it. Maybe all the real Christians never died and never will die, so they can wait for a long time.

Thomas 1
And Jesus said, “Whoever finds out what these sayings mean will not taste death.”
