Mockery is a way to reinforce hierarchy. By laughing at the loser, you reaffirm your place and his. By laughing at the bully for later, unrelated suffering you fail to understand that his misfortune is not a representation of his status, but of merely natural causes. If the bully got knocked out by a bigger guy for talking smack, that would be happy. But you laugh because you believe that the consequences, like ball cancer, are merited on account of his "bullying," i.e. that he didn't have the right to do it and the universe is correcting it through punishment.
