If souls actually exist when why has no one been able to interact with supernatural beings?

There should be billions of ghosts and talking rocks that casually exist and we can communicate with telepathically? But, the only sentient creatures are mammals. The only other explanation is that the "soul" possesses the physical body and is simply an observer but that defeats the point of a soul.

Like stated in the OP, as an ontological fact that everyone agrees exists. Religious scripture doesn't count because it's sectarian. If disembodied souls actually exists then

1. Everyone should be able to interact with them
2. They should be distinguishable from the body or from known natural science
