Realistically speaking, could Wanli Emperor actually prevent the fall of ming?
>silver shortage due to european wars leading to liquidity crisis
>little ice age leading to famines throughout the empire, wheat died and snow on rice destroyed the paddy fields
>droughts leading to famines throughout the area and entire grand canal drying up
>factional infighting within the imperial court between rich bureaucrats and eunuchs
>banditry rampant in famine stricken regions
>peasant rebellions
>smallpox epidemic
>manchurian invasion to the north
All of that shit happened at the same time and parents were eating their children to survive.

Like I get that you can prevent the Manchus from invading by holding Shanhaipass but what really did in Ming was the relentless peasant uprisings caused by giga crises combo of famines/plague/economic collapse/droughts

No. Wanli did the right thing by dropping the thirty year ban hammer on meetings which mercifully accelerated Ming's demise. Jiajing had already sealed the dynasty's fate by letting Yan Song loot the treasury while he occupied himself with molesting prepubescent virgins because he needed to 'absorb their Yin energy'.

Fuck you. Ming was peak and could and should have been saved. All Wanli needed to do was economic reforms with massive tax cuts to the peasantry, to collect tax in the form of grain to use for famine relief and to sell to the people. Downsize the army and to only keep a 100k crack force standing army near Liaoning, Better yet to abandon the entirety of Liaoning to the jurchens and fortify the fuck out of Shanhai pass.
This will instantly solve banditry and rebellion because theres no more taxes and the cut to military spending will reduce expenditure. Open up trade to the whole world and have free ports and markets. Its that easy.

Honestly, all those disasters happened because the Ming lost the mandate of heaven. Nothing can save them.
