I'm sure this question gets asked repeatedly(one of those may have been me drunk posting and not remembering), but what are the differences between the different Christian denominations?
~Are they mostly trivial 'personal preferences', or are they fairly significant disagreements?
~What leads to new denominations 'branching off', and do these break-away flavors do so 'with the blessings of the other(s), or do they just say 'fuck it, I'm making my own church with blackjack&hookers'?
~Is there a particular reason why the new institutions don't start from a more 'fresh' approach instead of, for lack of a better word, 'rebranding' Christianity?
-Is that in an attempt to maintain some semblance of Unity among Christians holding some disagreements with each other?
-Is it because they believe their version is the 'correct' interpretation of Christianity?
-Is it just the path of least resistance where it seems easier than 'starting fresh'?
~What are/were the biggest schisms in Christianity, and just 'how big'/how long are/were they?
>ty 4 ur insight
