Now that the dust has settled, was Jackson right for hating bankers and speculators?

Far from it. He was a s*ots-i*ish retard who, like most s*utherners, lived high on credit and then chimped out whenever their creditors came looking for their payments on said loans.
But who the fuck even cares because Jackson was just a pawn in a bigger chess game that he could barely even begin to understand.

Do you like banks?
Do you like speculators?
Do you like scammers?

No I don't think so. National banks aren't perfect, and its true that they can create problems, but they solve a lot more problems than they create and are necessary for a modern industrial economy. Not having one led to the repeated boom and bust cycles of the mid-late 19th century, so it's not like rampant speculation didn't exist because there was no central bank. His issues with banks could have all been solved through sound regulation, and refusing to recharter the national bank is one of the few times in US history where a recession was caused by a stroke of the president's pen.

I do like a lot of the things Jackson did, but this was very foolish.
