Is this the first historical case of the practical refutation of an economic system? Imagine how a socialist would feel knowing that the set of beliefs they used to feel morally superior were the cause of people’s misery.

>removing old people’s retirement funds and debtmaxxing on IMF loans so everyone in the country has to work until they die is good for le GDP numbers.
Yes, anyone could tell you that. Greece did the same thing and it’s still a shithole.

>Imagine how a socialist would feel knowing that the set of beliefs they used to feel morally superior were the cause of people’s misery.
Yeah no
Socialism resembles a religious belief system much more than an economic/political one
The "it wasn't real socialism!!1" has been memed to death, but in that oft repeated put down lies the truth
Its like those evangelical preachers who predict the end of the world
And then egghead reporters go talk to their followers and ask them has this failed prediction weakened their belief in the pastor and his preachings
And every time, like fucking clockwork, the followers tell the journalists that not only has the failed prediction not shaken their beliefs, it has strengthened them
You have to be totally committed to the cause to believe that the key to economic growth and a just society is using force to abolish private property
The idea that a small country like Argentina achieving excellent economic growth by abolishing government agencies, bringing rents down by abolishing rent controls etc is going to shake socialists beliefs is nonsense
Look, its literally happening in this thread

Make what up? It's an objective fact. Socialism is the social ownership of the means of production. The means of production in Argentina were always private. Taxation isn't socialism. Welfare isn't socialism either. Those are just band-aids that people put on capitalism to try to make it less cruel.
