The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Why was it rebranded? I know Mormon has a negative connotation, but isn't this deceptive? It's feels like admitting falsehood and distancing yourself from yourself.

Any Mormons please weigh in with thoughts And do you still call yourself Mormons? Or is it more of a you do, but not in public, kind of thing?

They called themselves Christian's. They never referred to themselves as Mormon until recently. All throughout the 19th century before the Civil War only the people persecuting them called them Mormon. I'm not even Mormon this is basic fucking history we learn in Illinois.

I had a friend when I was a kid, he joined up and told me they baptized him for dead people. That seems pretty sketchy from a theological standpoint. At least when the LDS movement kicked off they revived the truth about the body of Christ being only white people... didn't take long for that to get shut down though.
