He also once said that much like how you don't go to a concert just to hear the last chord, you don't live life just to get to the end of it. You're meant to enjoy life as it happens, and life has meaning because it's fleeting. Evolution is blind, however, and at one point certain species were given an advantage for consuming life forms along with the organic matter that they had been consuming prior to that. There had to be enough prey in existence for the first predator to be born.

I never said that this world was intended to be peaceful, only that life itself is not inherently predatory. You can choose to be peaceful, and if you are smart enough, you can find other peaceful people to live with.
