No. The stories are all very formulaic and read like legends, only make sense if you have a very poor outsider's grasp of the Jews, their culture, and their religion, they are also chock full of Christian symbolism, which is suspect. Crime is rarely symbolic, and even then it is usually the perpetrator's symbolism, not someone elses.

Plus for the record, I'm pretty sure the origin for the actual method of the slaughters was someone witnessing the kosher slaughter of Cows.
