>capitalists don't understand why whoring yourself is a bad thing
Many such cases.

my brother is a big time leftie, and I joked with him a few years ago that I refuse to tip on principle because not tipping servers is an act of antiracism, after this essay was published in the NY Times arguing that US tipping culture is a legacy of slavery
https://www.nytimes.com/2021/02/05/opinion/minimum-wage-racism.html?unlocked_article_code=1.V08.nJE4.rrUFoctQheNc&smid=url-share

His response (while understanding this was a joke) was that if I felt this strongly about it, what I should be doing is advocate for a living wage for servers, and in the meantime not eat at restaurants.

>my boss pays me mickey mouse wages so that means you should pick up the slack
Nah. Just find another job. Preferable one that isn't managed by a jew.

its a prisoner's dilemma if its a restaurant you like and want to go to regularly, because if you're known for not tipping you will intentionally get shit service and even potentially contaminated food.

But is it like a fancy restaurant or some hole in the wall diner? The first one seems like a reasonable place to tip. They're providing a service for what is expected to be some gourmet shit. You want me to tip someone for putting a bagel in the microwave and serving some instant coffee?

Given that tipping is just Americans trying to ape the wealthy European upper classes of the 19th century, it's obscene that people of all classes in the United States have been co-opted into a culture of tipping. Also it was used as a method to underpay staff (many nogs) and ensure their obsequiousness, which seems fundamentally un-American.

Sure, but the system was extended eventually to cover servers of all colours. It seems un-American to oblige people to grovel for small bits of money.

I always tip (even when I was broke), and I always smirk when I see someone not tipping/tipping poorly whether its at a restaurant or if they're in front of me at register at Starbucks.
I know they are the descents of classless prole dogs.

He shouldnt have paid the receipt and only given the tip to workers if he was a true communist. More like supporting the buisness while saying fuck you to the worker with that move.
