>>17841250>Spaniards actually lost to moroccans (it was mostly visigoths tho)He's referring to the Rif War in the 1920's, when Spain was trying to conquer Northern Morocco.
>>17841236>Spaniards lost and had to be saved by FranceSpain lost hard at the beginning, it's true, but it was a disaster of their own doing by sending 20k urban poors conscripts from Valencia and Catalonia, barely armed and trained, to face the hardened Berber tribes. The only real soldiers present at Annual were the Cavalry Regiment of Alcantara that managed to do a fighting retreat, and the Moroccan Regulares that defected almost immediately to the Rifians. After the initial shock and rapid advance of el-Krim, the Spanish actually did pretty well for themselves, sending properly trained soldiers instead of conscripts that never had held a rifle before. France didn't save Spain, the Spanish were already recovering territory when they joined, neither did the Spanish asked the French to join the war, they entered after the Rifians attacked French positions in Morocco.
