Were the ancient Egyptians racist? How could one of the first civilizations, great pioneers of mathematics and science, do a racism and an antisemitism and put the images of black africans and ethnic semites on their soles to tread on?

I know a lot about racism, my great grandfather was a card carrying Klansman who in no uncertain terms expressed less than positive views about black people and jews. It seems every great civilization attracts them both and comes to share this sentiment. In this image it looks very much like a black person being whipped, as one might expect in the antebellum south.

My grandfather was an Irish mason and he too had an incredibly dim view of blacks and jews. My mom's stories about the order of the eastern star were interesting.
