You want the truth? After death you switch to your untrained dreaming body and get your memories and "enhanced energy" eaten by a Dragon. After that you experience true freedom from limitation for the first time in your life, but since your dreaming body isn't trained you don't get to stay conscious for longer than a few moments and your consciousness starts to expand because you lack a physical meat container. You eventually spread enough that you're no longer conscious at all. That's death for the ordinary human being. Reincarnation isn't real, that's a misinterpretation.
