Nigger I've lived in China for a few years and they absolutely hate Japan because Japan is an American BFF and also because Japan exterminated tens of millions of Chinese, and Japanese people have a very superiority attitude in general towards the Chinese which goes back far beyond ww2.
China also loves to make ww2 movies, and in virtually every movie the Japanese soldiers are portrayed as completely feral, it's "Come and See" on steroids.

That said, Japan has a similar attitude towards the Chinese. The Chinese are considered uncivilized, corrupt, thieving, aggressive, dumb, barbaric etc.
Most of it is unironically true.
Chins is also identified as Japan's primary mortal threat from a geopolitical perspective, which also goes back hundreds of years while being amplified since the CCP controls the country.
The Japanese are fully aware that when the day for a new war comes to Japan, it will without a doubt be a war that includes China.

The Japanese considers Chinese to be uncivilized and thieving and more malicious, both collectively and individually. How Europeans sees gypsies is essentially the baseline for how many Japanese sees the Chinese.

Likewise the Chinese has a strong resentment for the Japanese because of their history of violence and conquests, their supposed pride and arrogance. The fact that it's a nearly accepted norm to deny Japanese war crimes causes deep resentment in China. The government obviously amplify the divide for their own political purposes since Japan is US aligned, but the cultural and ethnic animosity between these people has existed for hundreds of years.
