The Alemannic menace was never contained

That scene was kinda retarded
The baratheons are notorious for their raven black hair that always comes out even with marrying people with non black hair
Why did ned who was a close friend of the baratheons didnt even realize this until he openened this book ?
I mean anyone with common sense would have realized that joffrey was just a full lannister

Man this just shows how kinda pathetic the whole empire became. These states had massive land but were conquered by tiny amount of people. There were probably more warriors in that tiny strip of visigothic territory than there were in the largest extent of suevi dominion

irrelevant difference. Swabia=allemania. Swiss were (and still are) indistinguishable from Swabians

Rechila had the same effective name as Rugila because they were both named after their partial Rugii heritage.

I mean just the simple fact that if the goths had to go to war every adult male was a warrior while the empire was like "tax cattle stays on it's tax cattle fields we'll hire professionals to do the job instead" kind of shows you the way the empire functioned at the very end of its existence. During the crisis of the 3rd century there were numerous times when the citizens of some city armed up and defended their livelihood against a barbarian raid, forget about such things ever happening by the 5th.

>I mean just the simple fact that if the goths had to go to war every adult male was a warrior
Rarely did this happen, this was mostly only in migrating groups.
>During the crisis of the 3rd century there were numerous times when the citizens of some city armed up
People living in the Roman world weren't allowed to arm themselves since the Early Empire. Even in the Republic they interacted with people who were demilitarized or forced them to disarm, only encouraging Central Italians to be armed. With the establishment of a professional army and the end of the eternal wars waged which happened in Augustus' reign the culture ended in Italy, and never existed in the first place in urban centres outside of the region.
>forget about such things ever happening by the 5th.
Remilitarisation occurred in Northern Gaul and Britain, and was actively encouraged by authorities. Both regions mustered armies from the local population and fought against invading peoples, and did so successfully.
