Why are the falklands so important to argies historically? Those lands were always British

They're right there.
How is this a question?
Before the war, they were important because they weree right there. After the war, they were important because there was a war over them. The entire time, they were right there.

Argie nationalists can't admit that they got their asses kicked in a really dumb war, so they try and make it seems slightly less dumb by acting like they actually care about the falklands.

No one in Britain did until the invasion, at which point it had to become a point of principle. Fun fact, the Labour government before Thatcher was actually willing to give the Falklands to Argentina in negotiations. If the idiot Galtieri didn't invade for a cheap domestic political win then the islands are probably Argentinian today, Blair or Starmer would have handed them over and no one would care.

They are geographically close to Argentina. It's like, you can not expect Spain to not want Gibraltar. Why wouldnt they?

Spain lost Gibraltar in a war, which caused many Spaniards to be kicked out of their homes. The rock is in an extremely geostrategically important place and to top it off it's one of the pillars on their coat of arms. None of this applies to Argentina and the Falklands. And despite all of that, Spaniards are not nearly as butthurt about Gibraltar as Argies are about the Falklands (they are butthurt to a degree though).

That's why the Falkland Islands are "so important" to Argentina, and Gibraltar is to Spain. They are geographically close, so it wouldnt make sense for them not to want to claim them. Yeah they dont have a strong legal claim, but Englands claim isnt that much stronger, ("We could take it and we could keep it"). England most likely could not defend Gibraltar if Spain fully committed itself to taking it, given how small it is.

If the fucking British had an island right off my coast, I'd want to take that shit from them even if I had zero use for it. I understand and support Argentina's desire to reclaim Las Malvinas because nobody should have to live that close to the eternal anglo.

This is retarded, Calais is geographically close to England, Cuba is geographically close to the US, Vietnam is geographical close to China. All these places have strategic value, perhaps not as much as Gibraltar, but certainly more than the Falklands. Furthermore, Spain is literally allied to the UK.
>Englands claim isnt that much stronger, ("We could take it and we could keep it"
England's claim is based off that the people who live there want to stay British. Yeah, the English people in these places colonised it, but that was hundreds of years ago, and it's the exact the same with the entire nation of Argentina.
>England most likely could not defend Gibraltar if Spain fully committed itself to taking it, given how small it is.
There's a reason Spain hasn't tried since the 18th century

IIRC some strongman leader turned it into a big issue to distract from how terribly the country was doing under his regime, and the Argentinians swallowed the bait so well that it's been used as a distraction technique for the public ever since.

Gibralter is literally part of the Iberian peninsula, it shares a land border with Spain, and was Spanish territory until it was ceded to Britain after Spain lost a war. The Falkland islands are hundreds of miles out at sea, not at all contiguous with Argentina's territory, and more importantly: Argentina never at any point in its history controlled those islands, nor does it have any kind of connection to the islands through indigenous people. Britain colonized the islands a long time ago and the people living there think of themselves as British. Argentina has zero claim on the islands just because they happen to be sort of in their general area.

Sudacas hate each other over race as well though, Argies infamously have a superiority complex over how white they supposedly are and how little native american and black blood they have compared to their neighbors
