Suppose I live in a constitutional parliamentary democracy and I personally do not believe in a democracy. I'm also rich and wealthy, could I sponsor a political party to partition the country (it has many uninhabited islets). So that I receive a small island and partition it into another country and crown myself as absolute monarch (King) of that new nation.

>Does the partition of a country need to be discussed/debated in a parliament or are there any loopholes/ways to bypass this?

Finally after receiving the said island, could I just contact a superpower like China, to install a military base on the said island in exchange for their protection, shares in their governmental companies, funding of all my royal financial expenses and lifestyle (including the payment of my employees that is maids, guards, etc...) (Those employees would be chinese) and the support of China in securing membership at the United Nations.

>Are there are any disadvantages to all of this?

You can just start a company and be your own little dictator. Best if you start a hotel business.

It's called a micronation. From wikipedia:
>The activities of micronations are almost always trivial enough to be ignored rather than disputed by the established nations whose territory they claim
China wouldn't ally with you because the united states would consider it a violation of their territory.

>There is a big difference between a micronation and a microstate.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Micronation

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microstate

and I do not see any problem with being an associated state.

Even the US has the Compact of Free Association with tiny microstates
