So, what is the deal with the Mexican "Death the Saintess"?
Is it a personified memento mori, is it a camouflaged pre-Christian deity, something else?

It's a newly emerged deity altogether.

Mex here.

It's just death turned into a god, or goddess I should say.

Even among the Aztecs I don't remember them worshipping actual death directly.

There is no legitimate tradition for it despite a concerted effort by indigenists to claim it. It arose in the late 20th century and exploded in popularity in the early 2000s. It is a retarded new folk religion invented by a bunch of degenerate Juggalo-tier Mexicans.

Don't they have a whole bunch of Catholic saints that they can worship? Why the fuck would they resort to worshipping fucking death itself?

Correct there was no equivalent to Santa muerte in prehispanic Aztec cosmology. Santa muerte followers adhere to christian view of death (plz protect me o algo). Mesoamericans didn't have that retarded view of death. Their belief system didn't see death as some punishment that their gods were supposed to save them from.

>Her role is to watch over the bones of the dead and preside over the ancient festivals of the dead. These festivals evolved from Aztec traditions into the modern Day of the Dead after synthesis with Spanish traditions.
>She is known as the "Lady of the Dead", since it is believed that she was born, then sacrificed as an infant.

The vast majority of cartels are made up of euromutt mestizos. Indios keep to themselves in isolated communities. Go look up homicide rates and then compare it to a map of European admixture across states

you don't even have to compare areas within Mexico, just compare the homicide rates of Peru or Bolivia (indio countries) to the homicide rates of any spic or mulatto shithole like Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela or Brazil
