Why don't Brazilians have the same guilt over slavery as Americans?

What like the Portuguese? The Portuguese were quite expansive and pretty big to the slave trade. Could the Portuguese tolerate the guilt trip? I'd hate to think so, but looks like liberals on le leddit and media are picking up on it as of recently is what the Internet is saying.

Why would they when the descendants of slave owners are now brown and the descendants of the african slaves are now white?
Unlike the usa where obviously a white person never had an african slave ancestor in the colonial brazil and after in the independent brazil mixing was practiced massively.

There was never as much of a stigma against race mixing in Spanish colonies so most people there now have some slave ancestry. It's not like America where the slave and master populations remain largely separate even to this day.

The crazy thing for me to learn as an American is that the USA was actually a very minor player in the Atlantic Slave Trade. Slave trade was effectively banned in 1807, not even thirty years after the Revolutionary War ended, and even before then the British colonies in North America barely did any slavery compared to the Caribbean and South America, which is where the vast majority of African chattel were sent. All this time it was made out to me that the US was uniquely guilty in how it utilized slave labor when in fact it was one of the least egregious examples of slave labor in the New World.

Slavery in Brazil was much more sly, plus lots of racemixing. And despite Brazil being the last country in the Americas to end slavery, slaves had already conquered many rights by that point, it all happened very gradually. So when it was over, it was more a sense of relief than guilt.

I notice the same posture when talking about racism in general over here, it's more subtle and segregation wasn't as bad in the US, some will argue it never really happened.

Americans had outlawed slavery first, it even says so in your map, you dumbass. The Northern United States was significantly more populated than the Southern United States when the country was founded, and slavery was already outlawed in the Northern states by 1810, so for the vast majority of Americans, and for the vast majority of American history, slavery was illegal even before the Civil War started.

Because the dichotomy of slave and slave owner is much less alive due to intermixing than in the states (segregation)
