Steatopygia-is-common-in-the-women-of-the-Khoi-tribes-in-Africa[1]
>>17856228 (OP)
>Did they?

Maybe.
There's a condition that makes women look like that called "Steatopygia"; it causes a woman's ass to stick out so much it looks like a shelf, and is associated with gigantomastia (hyper breasts), and a more flush/thicker labia and an overall increase in penis size (longer and thicker) in men.
This gene is still commonly present in southern african populations, and some south east asian populations, but isn't otherwise as present as it "may have been" during Mesolithic caveman times when those figures were being carved. They may also be depicting "fat farming": where a girl is fed large quantities of starch and milk in order to become morbidly obese for marriage - a tradition still practiced in those aformentioned areas as well.

No, sorry, I have to take that away from you. The earth is approximately 6,259 years old. The ice age never happened.

According to Prof. Wikipedia and Associate Prof. Google: the gene is only 'still' commonly present in Western Malayo-Polynesian populations, and even then specifically the Andamanese people. Austronesian people are 'supposed' to have it though, even if it's not expressed.

Uh just go to an inner city and you can find tons of fat black women with bodies that don't make any sense.
The genetics are all there. It's just a matter of getting enough calories, which isn't hard if they're a member of the tribal leader's group.

I think she's beautiful. I think you need to check yourself, white incel devil. I also think something like this is very likely true, she was used for fertility magic/to ward off childbirth deaths. Better to be chunky than twiggy, Gravettian men at least were apparently pretty twiggy. But also, I'm seeing a mother goddess. Hop and a skip collective unconsciously to Mother Earth, weather magic, maybe they thought mammoths and the like emerged from the earth. Highly doubt it but maybe.

What we are seeing in these sculptures are women that are morbidly obese. Were lifespans long enough that obesity would really factor into causes of death or lead to an overall shorter life span? Probably not. This build however is not at all realistic for the average hunter gatherer of the stone age, they would always have been walking/running and would not have had the division of labor or the domesticated cereal/livestock production requisite to achieve such size even if they were sedentary. We can guess that these artistic figurines likely came from semi-permanent or permanent technocomplexes, given the evident skill required relative to simple knapping. In these areas there were likely also proto-urban environments of people responsible for the facilitation and logistics of stone tool making, this would also have either created an indigenous religion or had a religion which piggybacked upon extant traditions. It is entirely possible that women who attained a great width were, not necessarily revered, but viewed as objects of some power in these sites of tool industry and maybe more broadly. We get hints about the nature of these women by the obfuscation of their face, they represent almost a primordial fear in that sense, something which I am sure all of you can pull from.
