It wasnt a literal tower. A literal tower is no threat to the Father's creation. But they did build a "tower" and in reaching out to rewrite creation, they were utterly destroyed and the backlash left a lasting impact on all that are of God.

Anyway, why doesn't Allah smite down the Burj Khalifa? Its basically a modern tower of Babel. And he couldn't have changed his mind, as he is perfect, and has been perfect forever.
