I can't find any maps depicting the various Sultanates of Mindanao at their extent in 1902; the start of the Moro Rebellion.

All I know is that the Zamboanga Peninsula was under U.S. control, and that the Sultanate of Buayan was generally in and about the Pulangi River valley. This sucks.

Also how come there are no English language works about the conditions of slavery in the Sultanate of Buayan? All I can find regard the Sultanate of Sulu.

It’s the Philippines. Took me a second to realize what I was even looking at.

This is likely because they were primitive tribes who had been under Spanish control for centuries until 1899. So literally nobody recognized or cared about whether these tribes claimed to be a government. Their headcanon about being some glorious and ancient islamic kingdom was in stark contrast with reality.

That being said, the main source of information would have to go on to build a map like you want is their tribal settlement patterns.

The Spanish never controlled even half of Mindanao.
