>>17862481I'm czech and live in a rural area in the czech republic. I found some old birth/marriage certificates of my mother's relatives dating back to around 1870, like around 2/3 of her ancestors have german sounding surnames but I don't know if they were actually germans or just czechs who adopted german surnames. She and her ancestors lived in a town.
But I don't really know anything about my father's side of the family. I know the name of his maternal grandfather and that he fought on the italian front during ww1 but that's it. My dad's relatives were peasants so there are no records at all.
I'm mainly interested in knowing how czech I am. Might my phenotype and my ancestor's phenotype help me in this?
My maternal grandfather was pretty tall and slim, with a relatively narrow face. He had light brown hair and light brown eyes. My paternal grandfather was shorther and broader, also brown hair and brown eyes. My paternal grandmother had black hair, so I'm interested if there's some southern influence.
I myself have ash brown hair, light brown eyes with a speck of gold, I'm fairly tall and pale as a ghost and I don't tan.
