This is of course a generalization, but it's still a worthwhile question.

Countries in (primarily western, but still) Europe seem extremely similar to each other in not only culture, but architecture and governance as well. Is this due to Christian influence? Or is it recency bias after the EU? Asia is of course much bigger, but even in East Asia they seemingly had more variance up until recently after globalization.

Europe is tiny and after the migration period had no major influxes of outsiders unlike the middle east who had Arabs, Turks, and then Mongols, while the Western steppes had Iranians, fillowed by waves of Turkic and more Eastern nomadic peoples until the Mongols.

They really don't unless you consider poverty a different world, compare it to Afghanistan to the Gulf States or Pakistan to Iraq or Iran to Egypt. Hell even inside you have a dozen different sub-cultures and religiois groups, Kurds, Persians, Turks, Pashtuns, Arabs, Copts, Sunnis, Shiites, Druze, Yazidis. If nothing else the middle east has three major language families while Europe has one major language family.

I do. I'm from California and when I visited Mexico I was shocked by how desolate everything was. I complain a lot about Caltrans and potholes but in Oaxaca the roads might as well not have been paved with how bumpy they were.

The Middle East is less diverse than Europe is.
They almost all eat the same food, most of them only speak a dialect of arabic and since further islamization there aren't many other religious groups arround.

There's three major language families in the middle east. There's one in Europe.
>since further islamization there aren't many other religious groups arround.
There's still Yazidis and Druze as well as the Sunni-Shiite divided which is more than Europe which is Christian, Christian, or Christian.

They could choose not to use drugs. Many drug users actually want to live like that because they stop caring about anything except getting drugs quickly and conveniently. When I see this stuff and hear about people dying of fentanyl overdoses, I only think that we need to unironically bring back the war on drugs.

You would do well to realize there was never a war on drugs. If the government so desired the drug epidemic could end tomorrow, they don't want it to end though, it is quite profitable, it distracts the population, and it allows them a backdoor into black markets. Having fentanyl users on every corner in major metropolitan areas normalizes suffering and makes you less aware of how actively shit your life is becoming because at least you aren't stealing copper and freezing to death come winter.
