Government
Gave the West the concept of a republic, even though it later became imperial.

Law
Roman law became the basis for many legal systems in Europe and beyond.

Engineering
Roads, aqueducts, concrete, all mastered or revolutionized by Rome.

Language
Latin is the root of all Romance languages and a foundation of legal, scientific, and ecclesiastical vocabulary.

Atheism
Killed Jesus and then claimed to be Christian. Many atheists from then on start to claim to be Christians.

We better set this straight once for all.

Wdym atheist? Multiple emperors claimed divinity. The vast majority of the population would have worshiped or revered god(s), or spirits(s).

There were "atheistic" beliefs ranging from "there are no gods" to "the gods are exaggerated mortals" however, they weren't nearly as popular as one of the many forms of theism

Additionally, Jesus wasn't murdered for idealogical reasons. He was murdered because he was riling up a population that was prone to revolts during a time when their numbers were though skyrocketing on account of a local festival. Even later Christian prosecutions were mainly political with the fear their monotheism, and pacifism would lead to political instability (which it did).

If Jesus was a polytheist the Romans likely would have just gone "another god? alright... he's telling the jews to chill out? I like this guy"

>lost to a bunch of barbarian retards with inferior technology
Yeah I can never forget this blunder.
Splitting the empire in two is what led to it's demise, but I guess these ''civilized'' retards could not get over who rules what and make concessions for the sake of their civilization eh?

well considering the accounts of the trial before Pontius pilate, it was actually the opposite, in that He was executed because his accusers were fully willing to rile up a revolt if he were to live further. Jesus outright said in Pilate's face that He had no ambition over this world.

Even then that places Him as an indirect factor, not to mention if you asked Jesus he would likely take my side of the argument. Even ignoring the Bible's opinion on the matter. The penalty under the jewish law was death for what he was doing. Jesus certainly would have known what:
1. Claiming to be the messiah, then not living up to expectations would be controversial
2. Claiming to be God would lead to people calling for his death
3. Doing both during a religious festival under occupation by a hated regime would exasperate the previous two issues

This is impiety and means the death penalty. If you do not believe in a God as a real entity then you are an atheist, and therefore a criminal.

I didn't imply it was legal, just that such people existed. Additionally, the fact it was illegal should hint at how incredibly rare it was. Atheism in the modern sense basically didn't exist before the modern era

Honestly, thinking Rome was atheist is a reddit tier take ironically requiring creationist levels of ignorance

Many early Christians were persecuted, martyred, or oppressed, rather than being atheists in disguise.
