Why is Hannibal considered to be a "great" general?

Pic unrelated.

>Hannibal is considered one of the greatest military tacticians and generals of Western antiquity, alongside Alexander the Great, Cyrus the Great, Julius Caesar, Scipio Africanus, and Pyrrhus.

>Supposedly one of the greatest military leaders ever
No one says this
One of the first things I learned about WWII was that Hitler was an amateur and even if, eventually, the Germans were doomed in their fight against the Soviets just based on numbers alone, if the retreat from Stalingrad/Moscow had been managed by Prussian military professionals the outcome of WWII in the East could have been very different
One of the first things I learned about WWII was that Hitler had wildly overblown estimations of his own military strategic genius and because he was a murderous dictator when he decided to take over the military situation in the east no one could really stop him
I feel like I see this post /his/ every day
"Oh hey guys, why does everyone say (something completely insane that is only spoken of on Indian pedophile forums)????????"
Again, I learned this when I was a child, WWII historians don't all agree on much, but one thing they do agree on is that once Hitler took over military operations in the east he fucked up everything he touched

>what is the Barcid Conquest
Hannibal captured Iberia retard.
Ignoring that, he won the respect of the great generals among his enemies and did very well with what was realistically a far weaker nation on the battlefield.

Because he represented the greatest threat to Rome during it's rise, and Roman historians all showed a level of respect for him as a commander. His campaigns in Iberia and Italia speak for themselves, Rome was just a unique political and social organisation that was unlike any other of it's time with regards to its tenacity, organisation, and ability to make use of manpower. Any other state of that era would have made peace following a debacle like Cannae, for example.

When was Hitler a military leader? He is a politician but even then, even Churchil did a better job of playing the role of a Bismarck like figure.
Pic related is a better comparison to Hannibal btw
