Why are Asian countries so similar to each other?
This is of course a generalization, but it's still a worthwhile question.

Countries in Asia seem extremely similar to each other in not only culture, but writing system, religion, architecture, food, and governance as well. Is this due to Buddhist influence? Or is it recency bias after SEATO?
