The guys did all the dirty job for Greeks and kicked the shit of Roaches back to the Taurus mountains. Just to get back stabbed by Greeks and denied the pay for their services for the empire.

That's how Greeks live. Had Alexander the Great (PBUH) not been poisoned by his generals, he would've formed the GRECO-PERSIAN-ARABIAN-INDIAN-CHINESE empire and we would've been in space by 300 AA (AFTER ALEXANDER)

Why didn't they bother fighting the Mongoloid Tartars that were squatting directly in Europe? Were they stupid?

Every single time Byzantines had even a most minor "we are so back" moment they instantly went back into chronic backstabbing and pathological scheming like all of their external problems were gone forever.

You know, the more I think about the Greeks the more I realize just how strange they are. They had beautiful art and architecture, this is true. Much of their philosophy was quite on point, and yet their most famous philosopher was a schizophrenic. Their greatest commander and king was Alexander the Great, and he was an alcoholic homosexual with anger issues. They spent most of their time feuding against one another, whether it was the city states in Greece proper or as the Diadochi, and were both conquered by the Romans. Even with their religions all they did was depict their gods in their poetry and plays as being even more feral and ridiculous than humans. Why does anyone look up to them?

Their loyalty was often to pay and plunder, so once betrayed, they might turn against their former employers or settle down in hostile lands.

They were getting paid. The problem they had with them was that they were abusing their people, and Roger was calling himself 'Lord of Anatolia' and even considered himself co-Emperor after being given the title Caesar. They had become a threat and weren't above acting like it. If they just let them do whatever they would have lost far more. Obviously they did not trust him, because he did not act in any good faith towards them
