I’ve always wondered, how do Christians justify and rationalize the accumulation of wealth? Many in the USA say that it is a Christian nation, but then, it is the vanguard of capitalism.

Because christianity (mostly protestantism) uses jesus as a scapegoat for all manner of sins; you just need to beljeve in jesus and you are forgiven of everything

Capitalism, a free market, is incompatible with christianity. Christ says himself that to be rich is to have an exceedingly difficult path into heaven, so being or wanting to get rich likely brings you closer to hell. Why? Because christianity is the religion of altruism. The more you sacrifice without getting anything in return the better you are as a person. It's why Jesus Christ is their Captain America when all he did was die for the sins others have committed. If you benefit even one bit from your actions your morals are null and void in the mind of an altruist. Capitalism is thus seen as a necessary evil in order to have some wealth so people don't starve in the street, instead of the actually moral system is is. Same with China, capitalism is a leashed dog in order to keep the collectivist ship afloat. In America, the left and right both preach altruism, left for the workers party, right for god. It's why the free market keeps losing ground, the right cannot defend it without having to ditch god. Pathetic.

I’ve been thinking it over since I posted this. Maybe Jesus was just saying, you can’t take it with you, and this was just misinterpreted. Does the Bible say it’s a sin to accumulate wealth?

Yes. The Bible flat out says you should give away all your belongings and follow Jesus.

Bible says that people should work to earn their own property, but that they also should be generous and give away to others in greater need.

Ephesians 4:28
>Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.

Corinthians 9:11
>You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Bible also tells to focus on doing good instead of on wealth grindset and takes a stance against moneyhoarding.

Timothy 6:17-18
>Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
>Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

But then again, people can always nitpick and argue about what exactly counts as "generosity", "greed" and so on.

Because the real meaning of that is that rich people are attached to physical pleasures of the earth so they will choose to reincarnate back on earth after they die. Whereas poor people who “hate” the world, will happily reincarnate in heaven.

Think about it, how nonsense that verse really is. Plenty of rich people are some of the most pious ever whereas plenty of poor people are sinful scumbags. Not every rich person is some abuser who reaps wealth via exploiting. Hell, even if you were some lord living in 1st century AD and you had serfs you owned who they gave 40% of their crops as part of society or whatever, that wouldn’t even make you sinful or wrong so long as you treated your serfs “how you’d like to be treated” or in a neighborly fashion, right?

Not what Christianity teaches.
>Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?’ Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.’

The context is a young man has come to Jesus and affirmed that he he followed all of the virtues like not murdering or lying but then Jesus reprimanded him as he was wealthy. Jesus said the only thing he had left to do was give away all his possessions and follow him after which the young man just went away discouraged.

So for the young man, wealth was like another god he worshiped before God?
