Israel's only existed as a nation for like 80 years, and they've spent basically that whole existence winning since the alternative was a collapse of their best hope to end their 2000 years of exile.

The modern-day "Israelis" are mostly Russian diaspora Jews who have only the most tenuous link to the bronze age Canaanite kingdom of Judea. The Judeans were forcibly exiled from Judea several times, their temple destroyed multiple times, and their faith reorganized multiple times. The current version of Judaism isn't what they practiced in the original Kingdom of Judea, much less bronze age Israel (which are not the same thing btw).

Modern Jews don't even have the same religion as pre-Diaspora Jews.

It's too much of a mixed bag to be a utopia. They had to fight tooth and nail to establish themselves as a state, and in the process of doing this pissed off every nation around them so that they are forced to fight defensive wars every few years to avoid being destroyed. Their country is perpetually at risk from terrorism and foreign bombardment, the citizenry have to endure conscription just to live there. The fact they have been fighting very successfully doesn't change the fact it would be better not to have to fight at all. The non-Jews who really get into Israel are people like Douglas Murray who likes that stuff and how militarized the place is. I think their main advantage is a mix of Western-style beliefs (like certain ways of organizing an economy, and investing in technology) with Eastern-style tribalism. They have larger families, secular ones too. The society is less atomized than Western societies. People know their neighbors and do things for them more.

But I am convinced that people who develop an obsessive complex about them are projecting something they don't like about themselves, or their own society, or something going wrong with their own lives or society onto them. They do tend to run against the reigning morality of the day. Only because the UN is unable to do anything as long as the USA refuses to countenance any coordinated international action against them. As a permanent UN security council member the US can veto any call for intervention. The massive US economy and US Navy's control of the world's oceans means that any attempt to boycott or sanction Israel is futile without US support. Israel likely does not need direct military intervention from the US, but it does rely on the US keeping the international community at bay, and that includes the UN.
