One God is morally superior to multiple human-like gods because the One represents an unachievable ideal that we eternally try to ascend, while the many gods are noted for having the same emotions, moral flaws, and even the same perceptual limitations humans have. This is most true in eastern religions where human beings rove back and forth over the line of divinity, mingling sacred and profane.
