>>17869591 (OP) > so much nicer Brazil had the Atlantic slave trade’s highest death toll and still treats favela dwellers like subhumans.
Difference? U.S. had hard segregation; Brazil went "soft" apartheid with "racial democracy" copium (mix enough to dilute blackness but keep power white)...
>>17869595 They're just not really relevant, even though it's the largest Japanese diapsora it's still only 2% of the overall population of Brazil at most. Also, Brazilian racists didn't like Japanese immigrants either, they were simply seen as an alternative to Africans, but the "ideal" was still seen as European.

>>17869591 (OP) Most people were nicer in comparison to Anglo Saxons, specially american anglo saxons. Meditteraneans have been mixing with other peoples since ancient times, Hispania has been populated by many diferent peoples and the catholic church teaches that we are all sons of God. Northern europeans have been more isolated so they value more their ethnic purity and with protestantism you will have essecially national/communal churches that also tend to value more homogeneity. Of course there was still racism, but never to the point where it was controversial to free a slave or go to the same church. Also >>17869592 has never read a single book written by Gilberto Freire.
