Why didn't the Poles just hand over the disputed cities (which were 90% German anyway) to this man?

Are 2 cities really worth losing millions of men over? It's complete insanity.

It wasn't for Poland to decide.
LoN commission had veto rights over the status of Danzig.

They were actively slaughtering German civilians before they invaded also and were abusing the Germans living in Poland for years , it amazes me he showed so much restraint with them given what they did

To be fair to the poles he probably should have just taken historic Prussia only and left them with rest of the land , so that way they could have at least rebuild and had somewhere to call home still

Poland had wanted to up until Britian got a hold of them in August and then Poland told The Danzig government theyd invade them if they held a referendum on joining Germany.
Poland then began moving soldiers into Germany.

The gypsy had a brilliant idea that if he builds his empire slowly and devours regions one by one then no one will notice until it's too late to stop him.
But there were nooticers at that time all right already and Poles were among them.

lmao the LoN was a powerless paper organization, they didn't decide anything. If Poland hadn't stood in their way Germany could've walked into Danzig and the League could at best write a sternly worded letter

Doesn't change the fact that Poland couldnt hand over the city because it was LoN ground.

You're basically admitting that Hitlers next step was to break international law, and seize Danzig from the LoN commission, once he had gotten Polands 'approval'.

I feel like in this case it is just hindsight is 20/20
like who fucking knew the western powers would just let Poland be annexed by the Soviets after one of the most brutal war in history?

Doesn't matter if they aren't members of LoN. It's still international law to everyone else.
It's like saying you can leave the UN and suddenly be legally free to start genociding and annexing because the UN laws supposedly don't apply to you anymore and everyone else got nothing on you.

But the main point for OP is yet again that Poland had no actual jurisdiction to hand over Danzig.

But the UN is a powerless organization. There's even a certain country today that routinely flouts international law, illegally occupies another country and is committing genocide and the UN can't do shit about it.

So he's right that so-called international laws are meaningless.

All they had to do is give up their special rights to the city and come to an agreement with Germany so they could annex it. This was never about the paper work, no one cared about that.

Not really /his/ topic, but Israels whole game is that they're 'technically' not breaking international law because Palestine isn't a state. Say what you want about that, I'm not going to be engaged because it's politics not history, but that's how it's being loopholed.
But if you blatantly break international law by wars of annexation, like a full scale invasion from state to state with the intentionto conquer, you can expect half of the world to turn on you.

Now Germany would likely get away with taking Danzig, but the point remains that it wasn't within Polands jurisdiction to cede Danzig.
