But you owe your wife sexual loyalty, for some reason...

I do not owe society my work, my taxes or fighting for it. Ask the strong and independent ones. They don't need me.

If you make your wife (or husband for that matter) your only sexual partner then it (obviously) follows that you are actually going to have sex, any other arrangement doesn't make sense. And if sex is such a trivial thing that a marriage can go without it then adultury (for a man, the woman runs the risk of pregnancy) can't be that big of a deal right? If sex is "just sex" it shouldn't bother a wife when her husband cheats.

No? The fact that I promise not to have sex with people other than you obviously does not mean that I've promised to have sex with you. Those are two different promises.

It doesn't really matter whether it is trivial or not. People are free to make any sort of agreement they want, and if you make a promise you should keep it regardless of how trivial it is. If you don't like that, then don't get involved in monogamous relationships.

You don't think married people have the expectation that they're going to have sex with each other? That was like the whole reason to get married back when people were religious and didn't fuck before marriage.

Yes, in the past, people believed that you were entitled to have sex with your spouse. This was because they incorrectly thought that consent to marriage was consent to sex. We recognize now that this is incorrect. If you rape your wife, you will go to jail.

Those things are not mutually exclusive. In normal relationships sexual exclusivity is the norm. A person also has the right not to have sex with their partner for whatever reason, such as:
>short term: they've had an incredibly tiresome and stressful day and are just not in the mood
: medium term: unresolved problems in the relationship leads to resentment and as a result a person doesn't want to have sex with their partner
>long term: their partner has gained a lot of weight and as a result they are no longer physically attracted to them
Sex is a part of a healthy relationship and so a lack of it is probably a sign that something is wrong, and if that is the case then those issues should be resolved instead of making the situation worse by cheating or forcing yourself on your partner.

>The fact that I promise not to have sex with people other than you obviously does not mean that I've promised to have sex with you
No, but the fact that you expect me not to have sex with other people means you have to have sex with me, what type of controlling insecure person would force somebody into celibacy (which is what you're doing by refusing sex with your partner in such an arrangement) anyways?
>People are free to make any sort of agreement they want
Yes but marriage has legal consequenses...

Youre a fool if you truly believe that people didn't have sex before marriage because they believed in something as ephemeral as the invisible man judging them. I've fucked LESBIANS because they got a bee in their bonnet, girls back then were just as slutty.
