The idea that WW2 was worth fighting to save the Jews is stupid. The Allies only saved at best 11 million Jews (the amount supposedly left in the world after World War Two). But in order to accomplish this between 70 and 85 million people died (along with many more injured, inconvenienced, resources wasted et cetera). According to my supremely rational utilitarian calculations, the amount of disutility created in preventing the Holocaust renders doing so highly irrational. Quite elementary really.

I think part of it is that the Jewish thing was less important to people then because Germany already had a widespread reputation for being a disastrously belligerent country in general. It was a very militarized place going back to Prussia which was before the Nazis arrived on the scene:
