Marriage and monogamy are for women, not men. Marriage, because women want to have the inheritance go to their children alone, and monogamy because they do not want to share with other legal wives. Men would distribute property however they wish, even to those who are not their relatives. Look at the Roman Empire, the Five Good Emperors were selected on account of merit, not birth. Raising the age of consent is about power dynamics as it is true that a young teenage girl will not be able to understand how an older man thinks and avoid abuse, but then again that's the point of having a father looking out for her.

Notice that all of those things favor men. A man has to feed, clothe, and house a woman, as well as give up his property to her children alone in a monogamous marriage. In exchange you get a monopoly over her sexual organs. If she sleeps with someone else she effectively voids the contract and brings death upon herself. If she refuses to have sex with you, you can simply force her to do so. If she is much younger, it will be easier to influence her. All of these things favor men. There is no ethical discrepancy other than men submitting to the subconscious desires of women. I'm not saying that they're wrong for it, only that men are policing their own conduct with women. Why? God knows.

I'd rather girls be married at 18 than 12, but maybe that's just me.
