This map perfectly illustrates how after the American conquest of Alaska, the total extermination of indigenous peoples by savage Russians stopped. That is why the Aleuts and Inuit are still living peoples, while many indigenous peoples of Siberia were simply totally destroyed.

The Russians went to the settlement and carried out a terrible blood bath. Only a few [people] were able to flee to Angyahtalek in baidarkas; 300 Koniags were shot by the Russians. This happened in April. When our people revisited the place in the summer the stench of the corpses lying on the shore polluted the air so badly that none could stay there, and since then the island has been uninhabited. After this every chief had to surrender his children as hostages; I was saved only by my father's begging and many sea otter pelts.

>Tolkien didn't know how to build a physical world, he was little better than a kid at imagining continents, mountains, forests, climate zones, cultures and so on.

His world is literally created by a god, an entire subcontinent, Beleriand, was destroyed/sunk into the ocean in a war between lesser gods, then they raised and later sunk the island of Numenor and finally the continent of Valinor ascended into the heavens. In Tolkien's world this is not just myth, it actually happened. And considering all this your big problem with the world is that the continents don't look like they grew naturally (for lack of a better term)?
