Judging by the military modeling magazines that still get published and the kits that still get sold, it seems alive and well. Even though I do not build military models, I have a huge respect for military modelers. In a way they have a much tough job that people who model sci-fi or robot models; military modelers are making recreations of actual vehicles that existed, so the accuracy of the models has to be as accurate as possible to those real vehicles. There is a lot of skill involved in that, some of the military models I have seen are amazing how they captured those real life details so accurately.
