Once upon a time, stuck in a waiting room, I drew a random picture in a new sketchbook I brought to kill the time. It was a demon head, and then I thought of Why it was there. And spawned this story, taking a decade and 180 strips later it is only two thirds told.
It was very rough in the beginning, unplanned, unconceived,a haphazard journey that my sleepy mind oozed onto each page, and only after 30 strips in was taken seriously. And I watched the story grow.
I will share this with you all.
***DISCLAIMER***
These are "storyboards",never meant as Product, but wound up on my website because I had nothing else to upload. I will "translate" the chicken scratch wriwhere neccessary, and toss a few tidbits of facts for consideration. So,any and all crabs who decide to deride the story will be simply stating their retardation by doing so.
With that said,enjoy.
Faasaam:"Professor Milo Pandochan! I am Emeritus Faasaam, dedicate of the Temple of the Grand Enlightenment!!"
Faasaam:" Your King's council have directed me to seek you out to make use of your vast knowledge of Chaotic artifacts and enchantments! This object has recently come into our possession...it is Chaos make! What can you tell me of its function and purpose "
Professor Milo:"Oh,um,yes,Emeritus! I only received a memo about-"
Faasaam:"Your king was most Expressive of his wishes for you to assist me,Professor! I hope you won't disappoint him or me in these ambitious, will you sir!"
Professor Milo:"Well,if he insists, who am I to refuse, hmm? We can examine it now..I suppose. Lunch can wait,a little. Just kindly,um,transport your most interesting down here into my work room, and we can discuss its obvious significance, okay? Watch the stairs, please."
Professor Milo:"We will set up some equipment to start some preliminary scans...in the meantime, why not tell me how you came by it?"
Faasaam:"It was unearthed in an excavation of a blasphemer's stronghold and offered to our church as a tribute to our cause."
Professor Milo:"Hum. Would this be an ancient blasphemer or a modern one?"
Lissanna:"Hiya Professor! Mom was making those chicken pasties you like today and sent you over a couple!"
Peter:"And there's a really strange looking carrige outside...full of strange symbols and angry guards!"
Jeremy:"It's...kinda creepy!"
Professor Milo:"Ah,thank you Lissanna. Lunch has been temporarily detained by work, alas!"
Faasaam:"That ' creepy carrige" is the contrivance of the Emeritus of the Church of Enlightenment, ignorant beastling!"
Lissanna:"Wh-what is this? Swirling smoke? A crystal ball? How strange..."
Professor Milo:"It seems to be intensifying! Reacting...to YOU!"
Jeremy:"Thass never good!"
Lissanna:"It's like a storm...whirling snow...and it's revealing something...it's a castle in the snow! And I know it! I've seen it...in my Dreams!"
Peter:"You had a dream about this?"
Lissanna:"Yes...years ago...but it was so vivid... I still remember it!"
Peter:"How many years? It could Significant!"
Faasaam:"Dreams are often Portents! Tell us what you remember of it,child!"
Professor Milo:"And there's fact that the castle became visible due to her proximity is Significant too!"
Peter:"Too much significance! How old were you when it happened?"
Lissanna:"Oh,ten or so. It was a hot summer night that I had it on,so strange to be dreaming of Blizzrds!"
Jeremy:" Maybe you wanted to get away from the heat?"
Lissanna :"No,it's wasn't a pleasant dream...I wandered in dark empty halls, and every window and every window had the snow swirling around this place...until I became a snowflake flying around it on the endless wind."
Faasaam:"This artifact came into my church's possession recently, so your slave speaks foolishly."
Professor Milo:"He isn't a slave. We have none here. He's-"
Peter:" Professor, how long have you known this...client "
Professor Milo:"I met him scant minutes ago,Peter. Enough said?"
Peter:"Gotchya. Well,Sir,my opinion of this situation rises from my experiences in the magician's laboratory I escaped from years ago. My knowledge of magical processes is quite extensive...since many of them involved experiments with ME as a Test Subject!"
Jeremey:" That Maralic did experiments on you, too,Peter?"
Peter:"Yes. That's why I have a scar on my leg from where the chain was put through the BONE."
NOTE: Peter was supposed to have a shrewd observation about this, but it never made it to paper,so that's why the last exchanges are odd.
W.Smith:"...and the Ogre said, 'GARN! That's what I knows!' And he ate his own toes!"
Clara:" I will never understand why Johnathan likes you so much. You're a disgrace!"
W.Smith:" Mebbie we're birds of a feather an' the little scalewag knows it,Clara...he gets along more with me better than YOU!"
Clara:"Birds of a feather? Two coocoos, perhaps! You get along so famously with my sweetheart here because you are barely out of your Diapers mentally yourself!"
W.Smith:"Uh,oh! Speaking of mental,what's wrong with you,lad?"
Clara:"He's pointing towards the stairs!"
W.Smith:"The Professor? You want to see him? Sounds like trouble!"
Clara:"Should we see? Should we bring Johnathan there?"
W.Smith:"Arial! What do you sense? Anything at all?"
Arial:" Oh,now he wants me...after shoving ME in the corner like I was an Umbrella! All to play the fool for that ungrateful woman who-"
W.Smith:"Enough! Must I be nagged by two women today?"
Clara:"Oh,let's just go already! And before we take our first step into this new story, here is your Pacifier,Johnathan!"
Clara:"Now here we are...I hope you are happy now,Jo,causing all that fuss and bother! There is Jeremey! Go to him, okay?"
W.Smith:" Professor's got company !"
Clara:"Humph! I'm always the last to know!"
W.Smith:"Well,I know the tyke has his mouth-stopper in,but should ya be letting him run around loose in Milo's lab?"
Clara:"Oh,Jeremey will watch him. Jeremey has a bigger influence on Johnathan than I ever had!"
Faasaam:"I cannot condone your actions anthromorph. My sect does not acknowledge such abominations as having true sentience. "
Professor:"Perhaps we are straying from the objective at hand, hmm?"
Peter:"You,of course, are entitled to your opinions, sir. After all,it's the Professor who respects my own in these matters, and you respect his,obviously...you came here seeking his expertise and not vice versa! Maybe considering any statements from Me being directed at him might help you...cope?"
Faasaam:"COPE?!?"
Peter:"Well, if I don't have any sentience, why would you care what I say?"
Faasaam:"You may squeak, bleat or bray like any other beast, but the True Man is empowered by having a Soul!"
Professor Milo:"Is this really the time for a theological debate? We should be investigating why the sphere now contains a Castle!"
Peter:"I agree. Or does my agreeing matter?"
Professor :"It does Peter! Let us proceed with the task!"
Faasaam:"There is NO room for debating such questions with...Soulless Beasts!"
Peter:" Finding out what matters is ultimately what matters."
Jeremey:"*SIGH* I think they'll be going on and on for a long time about that..."
Lissanna:"Well, good for Peter! He sticks up for us!"
Jeremey:"Yup! That he does...and for someone hiding from Archmages should be careful where he Sticks! I know I shouldn't have mentioned that name to this priest guy...I hope nothing happens..."
Lissanna:"I don't think the name meant anything to him...and a Soulless Beast said it!"
Jeremey:"Hah! Thass lucky! Why do people care 'bout it? Who's people, who ain't? It's been years since the war ended...what's wrong with people that they just can't...let it go?"
Lis:"Jeremey my boy, consider yourself lucky to never have lived during the war years. I did,for a few of them...and my mom was an insurgent going on raids and secret missions!"
Jeremey:"I know...ah guess I still don't get people...how many years will it take for anthros to be taken serious-like? What was that? The snowglobe?"
Lissanna:"Oh,no!"
Jeremey:"Johnathan! Thass dang! Don't touch it!"
Lissanna:"Too late! Look! Some sort of energy wall has us separated! We're cut off from everyone else!"
Jeremey:"Caught up in another Johnathan problem!"
Lissanna:"What will it be this time?"
Clara:"Oh my goodness! Johnathan is trapped in there!"
W.Smith:"And Jeremey and Lissanna. Dunno what trapped it. Do ya know Asrial?"
Asrial:"Hypnotized by you,sweety!"
Peter:"This happened when Johnathan touched that thing, again."
Faasaam:"It resists my demonspine scepter."
Professor Milo:"The globe! Of course! The only void in a magic room...Chaos is at work! It is certainly a barrier and suddenly I see an image in the globe...is it...a castle "
Lissanna:" We're not trapped. We can go on!"
Jeremey:"Trapped without everyone here. Depends how ya look at it!"
Professor Milo:"Oh,Johnathan, what have you let loose this time"
NOTE: Yes,it's an abomination. Sleep deprivation? LSD flashback? It's even disproportionate. And the only strip like that, thankfully.
Lissanna:"I don't think we can get out,Jeremey. What should we do?"
Jeremey:"I guess we follow Johnathan...can't say Why we should,but...a wacky solution to a wacky problem! Professor! We're gonna see what's at the other end of this tunnel."
Professor Milo:"Okay, Jeremey...be careful and we will try to follow you as soon as we can...good luck...see you soon!"
Jeremey:"A Lil late for good luck...but I'll try to get us home...somehow. Luck and Johnathan ain't exactly on speaking terms."
Lissanna:" Why are we in a tunnel now? You know all this magic stuff from hanging around with the Professor...so explain it to me."
Jeremey:" I think he calls this a Perspective Shift. What we thought was tiny is now just far away and we can walk towards it and get closer. What we thought was a globe is now an exit into another place. And we have reached it!"
Lissanna:"It's a castle...and so cold. I see a gate at the other end of this walkway!"
Jeremey:"I'll pick up Johnathan and we'll make a run for it...and maybe we won't freeze before we get to it. Lego!"
Lissanna:"Big doorway!"
Jeremey:"I hope they have a doorman!"
Lissanna:"Damn wind has a bite to it! These doors are too big to open ourselves."
Jeremey:"They should have little doors stuck in here somewhere. Big doors for big tadoos...and little doors for the everyday stuff...but where?"
Lissanna:"Hey,why isn't Johnathan freezing?"
Jeremey:"He doesn't get cold...or too hot. The Professor thinks it's part of his whole 'Not Growing Up' problem. The world is sorta different for Johnathan...like now!"
Lissanna :"He found a way in!"
Jeremey:"Like he found a way here..."
Lissanna:"Let's get out of the cold at least."
Jeremey:"And I hope not into the fire. "
Daemon:"Good evening, madam. I bring News!"
Cassiopia:"*GASP!* Who are YOU?"
Daemon:"*sigh* I am the castle's interface daemon. I last explained my existence to you when I reported that fire in the pantry your sister started 80 years ago...we go through this charade every time...Remember?"
Cassiopia:"Oh...YES! I do now! You manage the castles spells and services, right?"
Daemon:"You remember me...oh,goodie! Now pay attention...my news is this: we have INTRUDERS!"
Jeremey:" C'mon Lissanna! I don' know where Johnathan is leading us,but I doubt he could lead us back to you if we get separated!"
Lissanna:"Yes,I know,Jeremey. But it all seems so...Familiar to me still..."
Jeremey:"You dreamt about this place so often you'd know around in here? I'd call that crazy,if it weren't for the fact that it's a bit crazy just to be here at all!"
Lissanna:"Crazy...a good word for it. Walking in places I only dreamed about...crazy..."
Jeremey:"Well, mebbie not really so crazy...I have strange dreams myself...sometimes I'm all grown up,doing all sorts of stuff...then I see a Picture in the Professor's history books...and I wonder about them..."
Lissanna:"You recognize pictures from history books? Like...you were there? What do you tell the Professor about them? What does he say about those memories?"
Jeremey:"He says it's something my Subconscious does...in our minds,we share old memories goin' back centuries. But...he looks NERVOUS when he says that stuff."
Lissanna:"What do you mean? He has a problem with you having dreams? That IS crazy!"
Jeremey:"Is it? I think he means well...kinda sorta...he worries all the time about me and Johnathan...mebbie he knows best."
Lissanna:" But you say he's deceiving you...telling you LIES! I say being armed and prepared for trouble will make you better able to defend yourself...how can you defend the Professor telling you lies?"
Jeremey:"I love him...and I trust him. We Both lie,if you call playing a game lying. He's played it long, and well. He knows stuff...and I know to play along..."
Cassiopia:"INTRUDERS?"
Daemon:"Yes...a small group has entered through the lower east palisade causing no damage, tripping no alarms."
Cassiopia:" Assassins! Professional Killers! Here to steal my secrets!"
Daemon:"Stealing your secrets? You spend most of your time sleeping with your spell research for a pillow! No secret at all!"
Cassiopia:"Spare me your pointless observations! Why else would this fortress be breached?"
Daemon:"Spare me your ego drenched delusions as well...if they are assassins, they are very relaxed. They seem to be strolling through the sunrise halls at an unhurried pace, taking no precautions or hiding their movements as well. "
Cassiopia:"Brazen overconfidence? Impudence! Folly! Fools! Do they even know what dread power dwells here in the heart of this fortress? Do they suspect the terrible danger they face?"
Daemon:"Do you mean the Snow?"
Cassiopia:"No...I don't mean the goddamn snow! Maybe...this is a Gift. Maybe...it's a blessing! Bold adventurers seeking untold riches in my silent halls...a chance to show my well honed skills...my dormant unrivaled POWER!"
Daemon:"Your ear splitting SNORES?"
Cassiopia:"(Oh,DO shut up!) Well, I sleep no longer. My fortress, my very home is crawling with spies...so be it! Let them feel my wrath...let the vermin discover what it means to be a guest...in the Castle of the Snow Maidens!"
Beatrice:
"Oh my gosh! They're trying to march away, but I tied them up! I can't remember the last time these soldiers were activated. What does my stupid sister want to do with them now?"
"WOW! They are having a Tug-A-War! I don't think I want to see the end of this! Time for me to check upon Cassiopia. The nerve of her wrecking all of my hard work!"
"She's always trying to stop me from having fun. I want to try baking a cake and she puts out the fire! I play with a few constructs and she blows them up! So they broke through a few walls...so freaking what! It's just the three of us. How much castle do we really need? Well,I'm gonna find out what she's up to. I have a right to know!"
"Here is an interface statue. Now I'll find out!"
Cassiopia:"Track their movements! They shall not escape ME!"
Beatrice:"THEY? New people! I gotta reach them first!"
Jeremey:"Well,here we are..."
Lissanna:"Where is Here,though?"
Jeremey:"I was thinking 'What',myself."
Lissanna:"I see fountains,gardens,pillows,curtains...is it a lounge? A bathing room?"
Jeremey:"Mebbie all of them at once!"
Lissanna:"Well,it IS nice in hete, whatever it is...bright,warm,soothing, not like outside."
Jeremey:"Lotsa magic around, thass for sure! Mebbie Johnathan wants a bath and a nap afterwards?"
Lissanna:"Oh,I doubt that. But he did lead us here for a reason, didn't he?"
Jeremey:" Wait a m! I hear voices! From where Johnathan ran to!"
Lissanna:"Are those ghosts? They appeared like magic around him!"
Jeremey:"Mebbie...wizards like Strange Things when it comes to the comforts of home. But we know the reason why now!"
Jeremey:"We'll let Johnathan be for now..he seems happy!"
Lissanna:"Oh,MORE than happy, until he remembers he's still a BABY! The day has been a long one,and that mound of pillows looks so inviting..."
Jeremey:" Yeah,it has been a long day. And I wonder if I could talk to a rabbit girl servant about my own needs...:
Lissanna:"Oh,the boy has NEEDS! And what sort of needs can a serving girl provide Jere? I am SO curious!"
Jeremey:"*GULP!* Directions to the Kitchens! I haven't eaten in a while and I think I should!:
Lissanna:"Oh my gosh! I forgot about that! Your High Metabolism will make Sick if you don't eat every so often! Are you feeling sick now?"
Jeremey:"No,I'm okay. And I don't even feel hungry, and I find that kinda peculiar. But I will want food sooner or later...so I'd better look into things before trouble happens."
Lissanna:"Yea...better safe than sorry! I'll see what's down this way...it's a big place, and since it has wizardly, um,'comforts',I bet there's food around here. Can't expect to do much magic without a midnight snack close at hand!"
Jeremey:"Sounds like a plan! I'll look around here for stuff as well. Oh,that's where the serving girls come from...Secret Doors! Um,hello! Can you bring me to where the food is?"
Beatrice:"NO! GO #@$% YOURSELF!"
Jeremey:"Um,you ain't a ghost servant! Who are you?"
Beatrice:"Someone who's gonna try keeping you from becoming a ghost yourself "
Lissanna:"Near naked rabbit girls everywhere! I think I can guess what sort of magician conjured up this place! A Male one!"
"Typical mage hangout...way too big,way too fancy...made to impress but not to live in...lots of baths but no bathrooms."
"Wait a minute! I hear voices! Jeremey, but who is he talking to? And I feel...Vibrations!"
"Better get my slingshot ready. Not sure how useful it will be..."
"But now I have Peter's spellballs-each of them filled with nasty surprises! One of Jeremey's better ideas!"
"I'd better track him down. All this wizard work might mean one obvious thing: we have wizards to deal with! And we have to keep Johnathan away from them!"
Lissanna :"There you are Jeremey!"
Jeremey:" We are in trouble! Some kinda army is on its way to grab us!"
Lissanna:"Marching feet! That's what I heard coming!"
Jeremey:"Uh oh! One of themes already here! Big armored and angry!"
Lissanna:"Run for it! I'll try to stop it! Big and heavy, huh? Let's see how one of these trick spellballs helps it walk!"
Jeremey:" Which one are you using?"
Lissanna:" The Professor's Super Slippery Oil! Wow! It's better than I thought! There it goes!"
Jeremey:"Your good at being accidental! Just like Peter!"
Lissanna:" RUN,Jeremey! There's a lot more of them! I'll try to catch up with you if I can! RUN!"
Jeremey:" Oh,Lissanna! Don't let them hurt you! I'll get you back! I sw- *Sniff!* swear it!"
Beatrice:" Come on,already! While they are busy, let's go!"
Jeremey:" What will they do to her?"
Beatrice:"She'll be beat up a bit but alive!"
Jeremey:" But they have SPEARS! They could kill her by accident as well as on purpose!"
Beatrice:"They do...but they are magic! They can Stun a person, too! I know too well. They've done it to Me a few times!"
Jeremey:" What?!? Your sister sent these after You?"
Beatrice:" Of course! That's why I stay out of her way! Come this way! I have a secret tunnel these soldiers can never fit into! We'll be Safe!"
Jeremey:"Lead the way! Hey,Lissanna! Follow us! We have a way out!"
Lissanna:"Okay! Let me finish distracting the bots!"
Jeremey:" Inside! Keep crawling in! We all gotta get in!"
Beatrice:"Here comes your friend...leading the whole pack of soldiers right to us!"
Jeremey:"She bought us the time to get to here! I just hope she makes it here, herself!"
Beatrice:" And I...don't. "
(Missed a couple. Put these in before the bots show up)
Jeremey:" You're the first person I met in this place! Where is everyone?"
Beatrice:"There's no reason for me to tell you such things! Let's start with who YOU are and what are you doing in my castle!"
Jeremey:"Okay, thass fair I suppose. My name is Jeremey and my friends are Lissanna and Johnathan!"
Beatrice:"What are you doing now? Trying to put a spell on me or something?"
Jeremey:"Huh? Offering to shake hands!"
Beatrice:"I ain't shaking any part of you! Are you crazy?"
Jeremey:"To say He! Um,some cultures do different things to greet each other. What do they do around here?"
Beatrice:"We don't do nuthin'! So...there are three of you, huh? Advanced scouts of an invasion force?"
Jeremey:"Um,no...we got here by accident. A magical type accident!"
Beatrice:" A likely story! Where are the other two? Off raiding and looting?"
Jeremey:"Well,Johnathan is at the bottom of this pile of ghosts!"
Beatrice:"Humph! That's good trick to have activated them. Ghost servants don't come for just anyone!"
Jeremey:"Really! They just appeared around him!"
Beatrice:"Well, they're gonna DIS-appear now! I know the Overrides to spell services!"
Jeremey:" What's he doing with no clothes on? I hope it's because he's heading for a bath! I better get him dressed and calmed down..."
Beatrice:" Why is he so small and helpless? Did he lose a fight with a wizard?"
Jeremey:"He's a Baby! You don't have babies in this castle?:
Beatrice:"Never heard of 'em! What's that worm thing by his tail called?"
Jeremey:"You don't get out much do you?"
Let's keep the clothes On this time, okay? How you got out of them still makes me wonder!"
Beatrice:" So that's the larval stage of a lagomorph, and that worm thing makes it a Male. Do you have one, too?"
Jeremey :"Yes I do,and no,I ain't showing you! You never heard of boys and babies? What sort of place are we in?"
Beatrice:" This is MY castle!"
Jeremey:"Yea...you keep saying that. Well,if this IS your place...why come through a Secret Door? Who are YOU hiding from?"
Beatrice:"NO ONE!"
Jeremey:"You found out we were here, you knew the right room but didn't use hallways to get here. Who are you hiding from?"
Beatrice:"So what? I go where I want in here! Oh no! It's too late! I hear them coming!"
Jeremey:"What are they?"
Beatrice:"My sister's soldiers! We gotta get away! Hey,where are you running off to?"
Jeremey:"I'm not leaving without Lissanna! She went down this way! Sorry,Johnathan, but I gotta lug you along. We're in Danger!"
Beatrice:" Forget her! We gotta save ourselves!"
Jeremey :" Forget Her? NEVER! Friends don't run out on each other. Seems like you don't know what friends are, either!"
Professor Milo:" A solution to one problem presents itsel...but not to the problem we grapple with...pastie,Emeritus?"
Faasaam:"I...thank you. It looks delicious!"
Professor Milo:"They are! Star's restaurant has a high and well deserved reputation around here. Her pasties are a favorite of mine and she was kind enough to send over a few. A full belly may aid an empty imagination. "
Clara:" I only wish that I could serve these baked wonders on plates worthy of them, not my brother's lab equipment. Unfortunately, the lab is under a LockDown while an event of Chaotic magic is going on."
Professor Milo:" Yes. Although we have unlocked doors, they should stay closed for now."
Faasaam:"So we are imprisoned in your lab, then?"
Professor Milo:"Not imprisoned. We could leave any time we wished. But to do so would be...risky. Your journey from the bustle of the King's capital to these remote edges of the kingdom to reach my laboratory is a neccessary thing, sir. I research Chaotic magic and to do so often attracts the same magical influences. Many Beests roam these woods, and although most are harmless, some are most assuredly dangerous. And I have made...some enemies.
" We are cut off from the world when the lab doors are shut. Magical scrying and emanatiions cannot find their way in here or out,and that's a Good thing! I have provisions and space enough to keep us in rough comfort for a time, and I am afraid we will be stuck in here for some while...because I am afraid of whatever will show up for This!"
Peter:"Now that we're done eat, let's get back to dealing with this situation. Mr. Smith,um,may I speak with your sword?"
W.Smith:"I don't care if you do,lad. It Asrial's opinion you'll need to ask for her answers."
Asr:"of course you can,Peter! How can I help?"
Peter:" You can sense magic. What can you tell us about the magic here?"
Asrial:"It is Chaotic, a type warping dimensions between this plane of existence and the globe's."
Peter:"The globe is a different plane of existence?"
Asrial:"A pocket dimension! The field separating us a Perspective Shift."
Clara:"Milo, since we can communicate out of the lab during a LockDown, maybe we should ask Star to come. After all,it's is her own daughter who is trapped in this thing and she should be told, used she may be to such news running with Jeremey."
Faasaam:"Daughter? This Star...this cook...is an anthro?"
Clara:" Yes she is!"
Faasaam:"I...ate of abominations FOOD! I AM UNCLEAN! And an Emeritus! Unthinkable! I must get to my wagon, must purify myself,be rid of this Taint!"
Peter:" So much for LockDown. "
Professor Milo:" Foolishness. And I hope nothing lethal to the rest of us..."
Jeremey:"So close...so close! Then Slam...then scream..."
Beatrice:"Will you just shut up already? She isn't dead. She got stunned and dragged off to my sister, that's all."
Jeremey:"From what you say of her, that's quite enough to happen."
Beatrice:"Well, all my sister will do is find out what she's doing here, that's all."
Jeremey:"Easy for you to say...you won't be the one explaining what happened to her mother,I will!"
Beatrice:" 'Mother'...that has something to do with babies, right? You sure have a lot of strange ideas where you come from!"
Jeremey:"Not as strange as NOT knowing about such things! Um,do you know what a Brother is?"
Beatrice:"NO!"
Jeremey:"WOW! They are like sisters, but boys. What DO you know about families?"
Beatrice:" I know about Sisters! I have TWO. One has the drive and the personality of a houseplant who barely knows I exist. And the second...that one is a PAIN! Bossy, obnoxious and full of herself! She takes and takes everything I find all the time! I explore the castle and all the cool things I find she steals from me! I HATE HER! Well, she ain't getting YOU!"
Jeremey:" Yea...you took the words right outa my mouth!"
Clarissa:"I remember...green. Towering trees...endless fields of wildflowers dancing in sweet summer breezes...but is this my dream? Stillness...snow...vast darkness...silent halls...sister...what is the dream? Am I a dream? I cannot tell anymore...I will think of this...and watch the snow..."
Cassiopia:"You ARE dreaming. So deal with it!"
Clarissa:"I am...I shall...I will let the swirling snow blur the lines of my life...obscuring them into white..."
Cassiopia:" Again I have wasted my time trying to conjure sense from her vapid ramblings. Is she a fool for succumbing to melancholy or am I for not doing it myself? Back to work...some of us have responsibilities..."
Jeremey:"*WHEW!* That was a close one!"
Beatrice:"See? I know my way around!"
Cassiopia:"At last...our new guest...a maiden of some fifteen summers, sleek and skilled! What sweet dreams did my shock spears send you stumbling into, my young rogue?"
Daemon:"The slingshot is ordinary but well made, but the ammo is collection of magical spheres that shatter upon impact. If she isn't a magician, then she had the assistance of one..."
Cas:"Oh,that is obvious to me...she made it here,so some magician is at the bottom of this. A thief equipped to steal my secrets!"
Daemon:"Not WELL equipped ! If I were to send a thief to Rob another magician I would give them more than a slingshot !"
Cassiopia:" Perhaps it is from a particularly subtle strategist! Two others who were with her still roam free!"
Daemon:"Subtle...or foolish? Is this a planned invasion at all? Put aside your astounding arrogance and consider why they are here!"
Cassiopia:"Astounding Arrogance? You are far more guilty of such sins than I ,you confounding construct! And you have no schooling in subtlety! My instructor in subtlety is the world's master of the art! My progenitor and your creator! His plans span CENTURIES! Now three appear here who move freely about. What plan accounts for that?"
Cassandra:"Oh,ho! You slipped up again Professor!"
Boris:"IT WAS A PARTY! I BARELY KNOW THEM! I WAS ON MY WAY BACK! IT WAS JUST ONE DRINK! JUST ONE BAR MAID-MAYBE HER SISTER-"
Cassandra :"Relax,Boris! You had a change of luck! Milo has a new TOY!"
Boris:"Another artifact? We're gonna Steal it?"
Cassandra:" To Milo, please. I won't steal from Milo. I respect him too much for that. But we will investigate!"
Beatrice:"I know all sorts of secret places all over the castle! I'm the only one who bothers exploring anywhere..."
Jeremey:"You certain your sisters don't know where we'd be? Cassiopia is good with magic!"
Beatrice:" Oh,she may THINK she is...but she never had to find anyone in here before! Behold my kingdom! I found this garden ages ago. No one has been here in centuries!"
Jeremey:"WOW! It's so spooky and cool! I guess I feel like a stranger walking around here...not part of it. It's all yours."
Beatrice:"Yea...because no one else is here to want it,too. It's lonely...like me..."
Jeremey:"Allus alone...I kin only imagine that...you have family, but they keep to themselves so it's like no family at all..."
Beatrice:"But now You are here...and we can rule together!"
Jeremey:"You...you want me for your King?"
Beatrice:"King? Royal consort third class! MY place!"
Jeremey:"Yep. She's a relative of yours all right,Johnathan!"
Beatrice:" You gotta EARN being MY king!"
Jeremey:"Why? Why must you play around like this? Lissanna is in trouble and she needs us!"
Beatrice:"Silence, maggot! I must speak to my loyal subjects! Citizens of Beatrice Land! Hear your queen now! By royal decree,I hearby declare Sir Jeremey the Bold my royal consort! Let the banners fly and the trumpets sound ! Let jubilation reign for a thousand years! Huzzah!"
Jeremey:" Are you even listening to me? Lissanna needs HELP!"
Beatrice:"HEY! Get back here! I found the special royal robes so you have to obey me!"
Jeremey:"You are the queen of Left Alone Too Long! Keep your help! I'll find her myself!"

Jeremey:"No! I gotta job to do! Play queen by yourself!"
Beatrice:" STOP! Stop!..."
Beatrice:"Listen, you! Who are you to wander around in my kingdom?
Jeremey:"This ain't Your kingdom at all! If ithis place was Your anything then you wouldn't have to hide from your sister!"
Beatrice:" I am a queen but she is my rival to power! I will rule this place! Just you watch and wait!"
Jeremey:"Ain't waiting! Just hoping your sister can talk sense more than you, that's all!"
Beatrice:"I'll give you SENSE! I'll DRAG you off that hill!"
Jeremey:"NO! DON'T TOUCH ME! STOP!"
Beatrice:"I'm not afraid of you! I ain't afraid of no one! I'll show you who's boss-GotyaaAAAA!!"
Jeremey:"Ohmygosh! How bad did I hurt you?"
Beatrice:"What. Did. You. DO. To. Me."
Jeremey:"*GASP!* All the BLOOD! I'm so sorry! *sniff!*"
Beatrice:"What magic did you do to make the red flow from my hand?"
Jeremey:"*SOB!* It's not magic...it's ME! My fur...is SHARP! I can't let anyone touch me or I hurt them! *SOB!* I HATE IT SO MUCH! You didn't deserve that..."
Beatrice:"Well, the red goes away quick on me! See? My hand is almost like new! Your eyes...wait a minute...what's leaking out of you right now?"
Jeremey:" Leaking? Where? What?"
Beatrice:"From your eyes...wetness...water..."
Jeremey:"Tears! They come when you hurt. When you're alone...and sad..."
Beatrice:" Tears? Never saw them before...on someone else..."
(Some of these strips have readable lettering imo,so I can forgo their transcripts)
You have to keep Bumping the Thread of the S
Sooo...what do ya'll think of the story so far? It sorta spun itself. Playing to dead air makes me reminiscent of my website where this first appeared, and the ride has barely begun.
Crabbing...encouraged.
:D
Aaannnddd here it is. The First strip, first page on a new sketchbook, and that demon head drawn First...never thought it would spawn more than exploring random doodling and liking what I made well enough to explain it in a Canonically Accurate manner. Which spawned Cassiopia, her backstory floating from nebulous ideas and constructing a contextually plausible reason for both of their existences in my ficdom. And this one engendered the second snapshot of the story, trying to put these new situations these characters find themselves in some narrative that the reader can imagine the missing parts if the story they just saw a random page of. So suddenly there were sisters, the demon reporting the "others" have evaded his site, and even building the sentences I had the challenge of putting on paper something uncreated and invented on the spot, but hinting at a bigger narrative. And these were drawn in waiting rooms and bowling alleys half asleep. In fact,I stopped at one point to draw up the beginnings of the story just so I can make sense of it myself. So Jeremey isn't there yet.
W.Smith:"Seems we're in for quite a show!"
Clara:"Why do I feel such unease?"
Professor Milo:"Chaos Magic is why. It's the ultimate meddling in forces best left undisturbed. "
Peter:"She pays a price for meddling..."
Professor Milo:"Let us hope she gets what she pays for."
Cassandra:"I need to pierce that bubble, so let's start with a spike woven of subtle dissonance and unsubtle directness...crystalline order suffused with a shattering propensity...to undo the walls of reality! Sharpening with manifest will and domination so nothing can withstand it "
Cassandra:"I know the Mad Rabbit's spellwork enough to find weaknesses in its underlying structures. This will pry a hole for me to slip through. Redy or not, here it comes! It's a good beginning but this will take time. The Mad Rabbit guarded this place well!"
We dont have a lot of story time threads anymore. Nice to see another
The setting is the town of Galesburg, KS, a small, but very important place in that it has only one entrance and exit, and no bridges crossing the Little Galesburg River
This should have appeared earlier, but I am guessing at the chronology.
The Maids have a page or two of developmental sketches. I was going with Anime Flapper Cupie doll.
Hooberbloob got his name, and pseudo occupation from Dr. Seuss and his Hooberbloob Highway, some cartoon special I remember seeing as a kid,so he embodies aspects of Romance. Or something. He has elaborate courtships with inanimate objects that he perceives as "people". Or something. Nebulous are the definitions of things Chaotic.
And we have reached the end of this first volume, this being last strip in the first sketchbook.
I was near my computer at this point, and for long enough to clean up the lettering with the smudge tool, then replacing them with comic sans, an apparent sin to those who faced it in grammar school. But other than the occasional panel substitution, and contrast tweaking,it remains a thing composed in a fatigue fog as shapes emerge from the white void under my pen, coalescing, gaining definition as the white retreats, it's mysteries substantiated. The story told itself, and somehow it happened through me.
And this I wish upon all of you: Find a Story and Tell it. You will Curse the Blessings and Bless the Cursings.
I wanted to redo all of these, since they were merely storyboards. And I grew sad thinking of having to go through all the strips before this one just to do this scene justice...
>>7529661I had forgotten to read this, I'll do it this weekend
>>7513365 (OP)Woah, I thought you lost all your drawings when your website got taken down, did you find a back up?
>>7544280I lost the website domain name, and the reason for continuing the story. The strips are mostly on my laptop and phone, where I am making uploads. It's other stuff that I am missing that are locked up on my desktop and it's failing hard drive, like the first 40 pages of the graphic novel and the 60 page storyboard for Issue Zero, this pic being the only one that I found so far.
And suddenly Floyd was a Character.
It happens.
I have NO idea where she came from.
Not the same place Floyd came from.
Back temporarily to the shakey-cam.
This strip disappeared from my phone, and when I went to grab a copy from my laptop...the battery was dead and refused to recharge. Another computer with my work trapped inside it.
The fun never ends.
:(
>>7556055Found this in another folder on my phone!
This one goes before that one.
I had to get this one from my Deviantart collection. It was supposed to go before the previous picture.
Your art is extremely sovlful
>>7565174Thank you.
What do you think of the story?
>>7565220Your art is difficult to read and follow. But there's energy, super high effort. You are not going to let this go until you are done, am I right?
I admire you but please make use use of negative space. Read Making Comics or something because your pages are just way too busy visually.
>>7568395These AREN'T comics.
These are Storyboards. A Thing from which other Media, including comics, are derived. It was more important to not worry about pleasing a paying client but to encapsulate the strip's situation with a glimpse of artistic theme,a dollop of plot and exposition stuffed into the cracks with a plunger. Not to charge money for,but as a pdf to distribute to film studios, or to be recreated by myself, the first steps of that reimagining post above.
Getting it on paper is the crucial first step. And I shared the ongoing story with no apologies.
This is Product. Made to be quickly produced by me in what spare time I had,for a window of weekly uploads. Easily collected, newspaper ready, back from a time when that mattered. But,life intervened as the original post related, and a story grew.
>>7569267hes right dude, learn to take criticism.
Negative space means space you don't use or fill with lines, color or shading. You have too little of it.
>>7569267kind of reminds me of jack kirby otherwise,
>>7569493I agree with you.
What isn't being understood is not a bit of these were planned, not pencil-then-india inked sitting in a studio things, but designed as I went along. And also no one seems to get that as visual notation they have value, providing the army of pixel pushers that make CGI media fodder to expand upon, the narrative ready to be reinterpreted into whatever format does the story justice. You are looking at a decade of work, sometimes a month or more would go by between strips so little time I had to draw. And my focus was ever to get the story told, like a train relentlessly chugging foward while I scramble to lay tracks before it. And after the year or so I realized that this story needed a beginning, I resolved to keep to the format of drawing directly into the same type of sketchbook, whipping up the world in uncomfortable chairs being a supportive boyfriend to my future ball and chain. It wound up online in place of the Photoshopped Newspaper Strip after I managed to get 5 uploaded on schedule and was working on the 6th when I suddenly got a sudden roommate in my studio apartment that has devoured my time and resources for over a dozen years. I could weep to wonder how my life would be if I did a decade worth of newspaper strips, but the Snowglobe story happened instead.
And after once again explaining what these strips actually are,I will ask you to hold your collective noses and suffer the crass indignity of reading it and tell me what you think of this story. Dilbert can tell a story, and I hope it rates higher than that. It's what I need to know, how much of a world did I successfully convey.
Please.
>>7569718it's hard to read so fewer people will read it, and you'll be less likely to find someone to adapt it
it might be more approachable as an LN, separating the writing from the illustration
>>7513365 (OP) what happened to your website
>>7572849Covid happened.
Had it for 10 weeks, but only managed to claw 2 weeks worth of unemployment money from the state. So sacrifices had to be made.
>>7572049Are you using a phone to read these?
I made these to be full screen on a desktop or laptop. Of course you will need to zoom in on anything else.
fascinating stuff. pls dont stop posting
>>7573057it's hard to read because of the page layout, which you don't want to fix because it's not a comic
i like a lot of the backgrounds and set pieces, but each page is pretty noisy, hard to follow
>>7573413It's a First Draft and fixing is done in future iterations. The composition is wonky because it was plotted and designed on the fly. The Art influenced the writing and the writing inspired the art. I randomly give a character an interesting expression, and I would think what brought it about, and stuffing word balloons forced canon warping concepts into the words crowding the negative spaces.
What can be drawn can be redrawn. Getting it on paper is the crucial first step. If I were to redo this story, and I did post that first step here as well,I would make it heavily Photoshop legerdermain so I can recycle imagery and background elements, and full color. These strips is not yet that, but what it is : the whirlwind of story that met paper.
This one appears somewhat earlier.
This was supposed to be posted before that one.
This was a two strip upload.
Splash page here...
And the exposition dump here.
>>7569718>I resolved to keep to the format of drawing directly into the same type of sketchbookThat was a really, really bad idea. The initial format is terrible. It's an unreadable mess. If you want to "provide pixel pushers fodder to expand upon" then you need to make it in a format that somebody can reasonably parse. No, these aren't storyboards, storyboards provide information for somebody to work off of, direction instructions and so on. This is just a really bad comic, no matter how much you claim otherwise, understandable to nobody but yourself.
I'm sorry you wasted your time, but there's very good reasons storyboards don't look anything like this.
By the way, "I made it up as I went, with no planning" is really, really not some triumph. There's a lot of things made with no planning, made up as they went. Guess what? They suck. It's only impressive when the work is actually good, and feels like it was planned out. Otherwise it's just an explanation for why the work wasn't better.
>>7576532What part of First Draft Not Meant As Product Developmental Work do you not comprehend? I have posted a strip I considered Product already, but here is another. It's what I wanted to do,but couldn't. Not for years anyway. All I could do was make this,as notes for myself at first, the first few dozen strips reflecting this in their primitiveness. But as the story grew and my circumstances hadn't,long nights at work and sleepless days being a white knight for my girlfriend still had me bound to sketchbook improvisation. Keeping to sketchbook parameters was an easy decision, it filled a screen quite nicely,so why divirge from format? When I was incapable of "proper" work for months previously and for months of the foreseeable future, why not upload something instead of stagnation? It's a story. A thousand better ones out there,of course, but this one is mine.
A random demon head started it all. And maybe some random sketch of my readers will spawn such a roller-coaster ride like this. So that is purpose enough for the Snowglobe story, no?
This goes before the previous one...
And this after the previous one.
A wall of text hopefully balanced by half a splash page. I felt like rounding up the solutions to all the mysteries here at once. And after getting all parties at the same place,I could now think of how this story ends.
Hunting stragglers. Here is one.
>>7578535NTA but that guy is making very good points you might want to consider. I hate to be a dick but I really can't find it in me to even look at any of these for more that a second if that (and no, that's is not because of a problem with my attention span), let alone figure out what's going on on the page or read the text. There is no hierarchy to the elements, everything is ridiculously busy and as such there is no focal point to entice your viewer. If you are happy about this, carry on, but know that it is very unlikely that someone who is not you will look at it.
>>7582819Exactly the point of it. Something of use to me in some future capacity, but noteworthy enough for sharing. I was using a 24" screen when I was uploading these to my website, and if you can't read anything THAT big, you're Mister Fuckin'
Magoo. Well, having a "proper" strip in mind...
...what of this?
>>7582971the same issues as everything else. It's just one big mess of squiggles and one has to make strenuous effort in order to piece together what they're seeing. I'm not going to comment more because you are clearly not going to make changes. You do you, but be aware that most people will be put off from looking at your art. It sounds very harsh but it is what it is.
The last of the strips, and it never even got its art complete. Covid happened, and the world unraveled. I couldn't spare money to renew my domain name, I owed money to the server hosting my site, and that went away. I got Covid, and stopped testing positive for it 10 weeks later, but only managed to get 2 weeks worth of unemployment money from the archaic and inept website my state wields. I didn't draw for years.
As if I HAD years to begin with. I had the 21st Century plague and I faced mortality with the resolve to crank out as much canon as possible before this mild physical inconvenience somehow struck me dead. Some more stuff to turn your noses up at. But I had to tell stories.
And so....
>>7583057All true.
But the difference is this:
https://youtu.be/s8d8CmhEe-A?si=Mhr8icYJoz3g1VJ-
https://youtu.be/UoTBkDRWCSw?si=osJ2x1BintA1bvWw

You get to see it appear before your eyes.
The raw art at least. Then its dragged into Photoshop and I color and fiddle with it, selling the results as hard copy. The videos are enough Content to keep traffic steady and invested, and I can peddle tshirts with my channel to my Etsy store. The colorized versions will be the "print" content, for once per week syndication, either web based or dying newspaper. More R n D is required, and time had gotten so scarce for anything artistic that I decided to post the Snowglobe saga as Dooin' Art Stuff thing. Warts and all.
I forgot about these next pages.
My reaction to my impending doom.
For Posterity to go Eww! at,apparently.
Not knowing what time frame I was under for when I would start drowning in my own phlegm, so I resolved to keep going and record as much Canon as possible in visual shorthand, getting story down on paper as my agenda, so it's even cruder than usual. A bit too much fist shaking at an unfair universe, but you've heard it all before. And after the second head,I decided to forget about Jeremey's head hair because it takes long minutes to draw, resolving to go back if I had time.
"LOL"
>>7583855You actually sell these? I mean, people really buy it?
>>7585656Not yet.
When it is brought into Photoshop, colored and cleaned up, then it will be ready for publication. Like I wrote in another post.
>>7586120>>7575621 ( Dragon here is my favorite work of yours)
I can see how you slowly improved at perspective and drawing in general with the sheer volume of scenes you tried to portray. This old black white scribbly hatching style is very unique, while not necessarily being my cup of tea. The story seems convoluted and boring and the nine of the characters are interesting to me , despite how autistically you post and draw these over a decade. I dont want to discourage your enthusiasm and genuine passion as that's very rare to see online, especially on this god forsaken board. I would suggest if you actually want to sell these you make two major changes :
1) Get an editor of some kind, even if it's just your friend looking over your stuff . When presenting ideas please make much simpler storyboards (like literally draw just silhouettes and simple shapes, no hatching, see pic attached). That way you can solve the super cramped text and bubble placement every time and quickly make major compositional anf page layout changes at the start.
2) Make more compelling and attractive characters. Most people read a story for characters. Even if you have good hatching, and environments, if the characters aren't interesting for the viewer, nobody cares. The easiest way to do this is to have an attractive make or female character ( sometimes both) and have them interesting enough to hook the viewer immediately. You can keep the furries and others but I struggled to care about any character in particular.
>>7587788The story so far is a First Draft, to explain it again. Not Product, not for presentation, but notes to myself that eventually got more time devoted to fleshing it out. This pic is the very first steps in retelling this story Properly, which means heavy Photoshop legerdermain, that craft I taught myself through making this current story, and those lessons applied to making the weekly strip. And the Snowglobe story strips are what I will be referencing to draw all the elements separately for processing into panels. It has its purpose. What was in a first draft need not make it into a second. The structure of this second version is already vastly different from the one posted here, which was an afterthought made when I realized that this story needed a beginning and was spawned by a whim in the middle.
>>7589276Looks cool as hell. If only you drawed more things like this...
>>7589278I do. This is the finalist for the figure I had planned for a new tshirt design. A project for reaquainting myself with Photoshop and teaching myself how to best color it. And being a grind,if better coloring entails redrawing it with coloring in mind, then I would do just that.
The Chaos Bug was assembled from bits, and since the final destination for this project was publishing in one of the furry print comic monthlies,it would be hard to tell that stuff like it's legs were copied and pasted for an illusion of depth. AI art from the late 90s.
Banned for spamming a thread in /b/ I never saw,and my appeal was denied.
Low comedy.
>>7578535>I have posted a strip I considered Product already, but here is another. Those both have all the exact same problems as all the rest dude.
>Keeping to sketchbook parameters was an easy decision, it filled a screen quite nicely,so why divirge from format?Because the format is awful. You think people who make actual pre-production material didn't also have shit going on in their lives? Of course they did. But they had the presence of mind to look at what actual production material that people can parse looks like and do that instead of whatever this is.
>>7589275Here's a tip: don't post first drafts. Not unless you want to be rightfully ripped apart. At the very least, don't hide behind this "it's a draft! it's a draft! you can't criticize it because it's a draft!" excuse. The only good reason to post a first draft is so it that you can take those criticisms into consideration and change the work to accommodate. Generally speaking this is best done by somebody who knows their shit, not a handful of random people on the internet.
And holy shit press spacebar after a comma, like this.
>>7595458One,more,time.
The Snowglobe story started as a whim. And continued with purpose. It was never meant as ANYTHING than a thing to be given full realization LATER.
(Still there? Paying attention?)
This includes SOMETHING I WOULD PREPARE TO SHOW PRODUCERS. I would include the completed story strips at the end, but before it would come the Sales Pitch, with a prose with new still illustrations as what I would like to see the material composed. Then its up to me to convert those 180 + strips into collections of scenes to fit formats: movie, miniseries, or I suppose in the age of streaming and binge watching, a strict time frame is no longer mandatory. I would study the PDF maker, study similar sales pitches, and possibly do a prose short story like this recently concluded Bugmech tale. To learn how to utilize a new program or medium, I make a project for educating myself in its use.
In other words, even as it is,the Snowglobe story has WORTH, a springboard to larger greater things. I had nothing else to share for years, and when I got with my computer at last, I still wanted to follow the story, and I am sure the 4000 visitors average double clicking my bookmark weren't all bots and felt as much. The story came with apologies, but the story left them behind. Hints of plot developments coming to fruition years later, three simultaneous story arcs weaving out over the months, each strip a surprise appearing under my pen. When I saw my strip on my desktop screen, panels were inches across, and even flip phones almost science fiction, so smartphone viewing was inconceivable. For its time and place, the format worked.
I still haven't heard from anyone about the story itself. No questions about it. No one wanting to know more. Dead silence. Someone said it had "SOVL", but does it have Wit? Truth? Resonance? Is helping people what people should do, even when the ones needing help are monstrous? Was entertainment had, some laughs and tears?
Tell me that.
And the stress test of the posting limits continues...
The Snowglobe went away, its server rental eaten by Covid, the domain name sat on by China once it slipped from my control. I got too depressed to draw for a few years, losing myself to Skyrim or whatever.
The I found some marijuana some customer dropped by a register at work. Depression disappears, and I exploded in creativity. And after such a drought, I was happy to get anything on paper again. At some point, I remembered this one page of a story I did for a study. A scrap of a second page exists but was hardly worth finding. And I decided to expand the story. For Fun. You've heard of that, right?
So following this will be scary scratchy comics, but with a lot of negative space for a change. The story petered out, but it was fun while it lasted. So...
Suffer through it if you DARE!
>>7596586>I still haven't heard from anyone about the story itself. No questions about it. No one wanting to know more. Dead silence. Someone said it had "SOVL", but does it have Wit? Truth? >It was never meant as ANYTHING than a thing to be given full realization LATER.And yet here you are, trying to get eyeballs on it and for some reason getting defensive when the people who don't just ignore it point out that it's an unreadable mess and that you're wasting your time.
When you're old and you're bitter, know that it's your fault for not listening to the people who tried to help you. You're still doing the comma thing so I guess you're not interested in improving or making anything more legible. Or maybe you don't even understand that there's a problem, in which case, nothing I can say will get through to you. Last reply, I got better things to do than to try and help the unhelpable.
>>7598024>ou're still doing the comma thing so I guess you're not interested in improving or making anything more legible.Actually, I take that back, just noticed you stopped doing it after that "One,more, time."
>>7598024You're clearly not trying to help anyone by being asshole like that.
Snowglobe anon, I'll try reading your story sometime. I'd suggest you to post your work in more places other than here to get a more varied feedback. Reddit is a good alternative, though people there can be just as harsh as the people in here.

You're welcome.
>>7598295Oh well, the joke was having enormous blank spaces to put in front of those commas. All for you.
Anyway,on with the show...
>>7598135I hope you get to know them.
It remains a privilege to find out how they are all getting on first. And I mean exactly that.
George RR Martin and I share a writing idea. We imagine these folks, and sort of document their unfolding situations, watching them objectively in our heads, the narrative entirely in their hands, passive observers of history. I think that I think cinematicly in composition, the moments of fictional lives stuffed awkwardly into sketchbooks, but with video in mind :a panning shot here, a close up there, action scenes to capture those slices of desperation when everything matters. And most often than not, I would be surprised myself at developments, because each strip began as only a vague idea that writes itself, and imagery coaxed from beneath the white paper depths by my pen.
I want the world to know them.
And if you actually attempt the impossible and wander through silent halls with my friend, perhaps you might agree.
I was exploring different cheap pens, and some worked better than others.
>>7596586>I still haven't heard from anyone about the story itself. No questions about it. No one wanting to know more.People are not reading your story because it is presented in an hard to parse, messy format. When they mention this (
>>7572049 and
>>7576532) you brush it off saying it's a first draft, storyboard etc. But the point of a storyboard is NOT to get the story across, it's mainly to get an idea of the ACTION. The complexity of a story is NEVER told through just the initial thumbnails and sketches, it's laid out in a script. And when you tell a story through image strips, BOTH the text and the art have to work together to tell the story. When you consistently have more of one or the other (in this case, hyper-detailed art that takes away from the dialogue) the story falls apart. I get that you make your drawings first and add the text later, but doing so results in a big old mess.
>It was never meant as ANYTHING than a thing to be given full realization LATER.>SOMETHING I WOULD PREPARE TO SHOW PRODUCERSWhen is later? What to you is a finished product you can show producers? You've been working on this for a decade, and all you have are some storyboards and an unfinished story. Yes, production takes a long time. Yes, you're working alone. But you are working with a vague and lofty goal in mind.
I hate being this harsh, because I think your art genuinely is wonderful and brimming with personality. But you have to come to terms with what you want this thing to be, and what it is right now.
>>7609605As another anon lurking, i'll just add that it has A LOT of text and I find comics that rely too heavily on text slow and cumbersome. I enjoy looking through the art, but don't have the patience to read it.
The doctor and his henchbunny were from this picture, and I enjoyed sticking these old works into new stuff.

>>7589275That is the very beginning of how I would do the story Properly. Here I am blocking out the page. I have a lot to invent. Like in the Peter's Lair comic,I taught myself Photoshop legerdermain, and now I have great ideas on how to do things better.
Full color, art style tweaked in anticipation of being colored, with filters enhancing the 3D effects I achieved in the 90s.
Also, the story is being retold, now that I have an idea of where it goes. Ideas expanded, lore set in concrete. I want to stuff as much visual information as pssible, tell the story by hinting of others. Jeremey, Peter and Lissanna are heading the camera's way,and should be closer, near the Strange Carrige seeing Floyd and the other guard for the first time. What does the Professor see looking out of his front door? What kind of paneling leads downstairs into the lab? These things will then be drawn, processed into recyclable chunks, and carefully cataloged,so established visual elements like familiar interiors like the lab can be copied and tweaked for any particular panel. In Peter's Lair, floors and walls were easy to shuffle around, saving me from redrawing them. Plants can be flipped horizontally and it looks sufficiently different. I have no idea what the finished product will be,but I can only dream of finding out.
