>>7559732I do, I just find it a bit weird what speaks to others. And I guess just how so many of the posts here are either not specific about why they like it.
For example, this one I enjoy looking at. I don't want to paint like this, and it's obviously something that was done with a measure of speed in mind. But I really like how well everything was fit in, how despite the messiness you can clearly identify each character. There's even "hidden" ones - the more you look the more find. The artist REWARDS you for your continued investing of your time in the picture. And despite this being a weird blending of anime and semi-realism, it works.
There's also a lot of discomfort in the picture, but in a good way - the viewer knows what's about to happen. The characters look just as awkward and uncomfortable being there, in a time and place that isn't actually their own, almost as if they feel something is wrong too.
Except for one, who stares directly at the camera, right off one of the big focuses.
The colors I think could be a little better IMO but it's almost there. Either a bit more warmth in the shadows or chilling out the bits of warm spots that were added to harmonize things a bit more. But as it stands those are small enough errors that I think it doesn't take too much away from how the color choices both give an impression like some of the old photos from the JFK assassination while also adding more of a chilly anxiety to the piece.
