If you have a page/channel, you gotta have some level of qualification to be credible enough when reviewing products. People can be swayed by your opinion which affects not only the author's revenue but also the knowledge people may or may not acquire (if it's a book).

Nope, boomer mentality. This was the case 30 years ago, no longer is and it's going to continue accelerating.

It's why boomers generally won't listen to anything you tell them in person outside their viewpoint unless it's cited to be from someone they consider to have status, and also why they will believe everything they see online or on TV - they assume that to be put on blast you have been vetted by some authority to be "allowed to speak."

There's alot of objective good art that I don't like, I think this is also a problem with being self taught, that you end up listening to someone on the internet but you don't really like his art and when your art starts looking like theirs you end up disappointed
