How would you go about coloring a drawing with grey linework like pic related?
Would I basically have to just redraw the whole thing but with colored lines so it doesn’t look like shit?

You can use some color adjustments to turn it black. Would likely turn the hair and hat black too but that's not really a problem. Or you can embrace the translucency with a multiply layer.

You can set your brush to do things like ignore black or something, it's kind of esoteric.
Otherwise you can just mask it or use it as a base sketch for painting over it.
