>have a day dream space in the back of my brain where I can envision my ideas and play it out in my imagination
>I can 'draw' awesome characters and environments doing stuff in my mind
>however, my art skills is still not good enough for me to actually deliver these characters
>and I am so afraid to butcher these characters of mine with my currently /beg/ at best skills and end up like picrel
Should I study from 40 more references and practice a shit ton of other generic works first before drawing my own ideas or should I immediately start even though the end result is 100% going to be dog shit?

They say the best thing to do with any project is just start, and when you hit potholes in your journey start learning how to overcome them. "Artists" like Chrischan or your Image just have no self awareness and believe their art to be great, just because - I recall that Chrischan got several offers to have his comics turned into full animations, but he was a nightmare to work with, because he believed nobody could draw as well as he could.

On another note, I wonder if we're going to lose amateurish art like your image - with AI coming along, will people just prompt it instead? Kind of sad to think about. It already feels rare to see truly amateurish art these days.
