You have until July 7th, 11:59 PM GMT, to illustrate stories from the latest “/lit/ Writing Competition” >>>/lit/24447613
Countdown timer:
https://countingdownto.com/?c=6362229

Replied below are all 7 stories, ordered by votes.

Rules:
• Image dimensions: 2550 pixels wide × 3300 pixels high.
• No AI.
• The image must be suitable for blue boards (e.g. /lit/).
• You must “submit” the image by posting it ITT as a .png or .jpg

After the submission deadline, two Strawpolls will be created, one called “Illustrations of Winning Stories,” and one called “Illustrations of All Stories.”
Only illustrations pertaining to the top third of the placing stories—the top 3 out of 7 (rounding up), marked with a ◊ below—are “Illustrations of Winning Stories.”

The /icic/ winner of “Illustrations of Winning Stories,” will grace the front cover of June’s compilaiton book;
The /icic/ winner of “Illustrations of All Stories” will grace the back cover.
Every submitted illustration will accompany its story of inspiration in this month’s edition of /lwc/+/icic/, just like last-last-last month:
https://files.catbox.moe/hhcojy.pdf
>38.4 MB
>128 pages
(^ “/lwc/+/icic/ March 2025”)

And a big thank-you to all who participated in last-last-last month’s /icic/—it was a very special collaboration.
Now let’s see what June has in store~

every time I give it a shot, the text I open makes me think what the fuck even is this and kills my drive to continue
why can't you guys write normal stuff
>Theme Requirement: The madness of crowds.
>Character Requirement: Someone must have lost their voice.
why not
>thriller
>betrayal
or
>18th century
>dangerous inter-class affair
or whatever
you know, something engaging with a plot and characters, where interesting things happen and the whole thing isn't just an exercise in introspection completely unsuited to visual storytelling
every goddamn time I open one of these it's the protagonist waxing poetic or talking to me directly like I'm their captive audience

I'll be honest, I am not a very literate person.

OP, can you summarize the visual elements which you think should be present in each short story in a bullet point format? Something like

>bat
>waterfall
>twilight

something so we can draw a cover without reading the short story...

Weak motivation for murder, though as unprofessional as he behaves with his intern and the customer he did not yet know, he must be an exceptionally bitter narcissist, which perhaps lower inhibitions enough to be a psychopath.

You are correct. I wrote it, wanted to edit it a bit before submission, then realized that the chances of me actually having the time TO edit it was so low.
Ironically, I was stuck in traffic on the way home, and thus, no time to plan it.

It's the equivalent of going to /lit/ and asking them to write a story based on a bunch of hand studies. From an /ic/ perspective, the majority of us don't care about /lit/'s exercises. The only way to make these threads more active is to give us stories with broader appeal.

This is a thread for people who like to draw, not a thread for nodraws who like to bitch and moan.
Why draw in any thread?
Why draw at all?
Justify why you're even on this fucking board if you find it so hard to lift a pencil and get so defensive over the friendliest little push to do so?
Maybe a pencil is less suited for you than a rope is.

I meant to be more ambitious and make an entire forest with the tree air fresheners and such - in particular I had an idea for "Noili Me Tangere" that I was hoping to bust out today as well, but of course I woke up with a terrible fever today.

With just the single tree, by contrast, the array of ducks seems all the more vast, but I get what you mean.
And whether intentional or not, zoomed out, the composition looks like a person smiling, which tracks with the story.
I love all the mini-narratives going on with your clogged-up flock.
