>>7617902 (OP) Do you have a curriculum or do you just draw whatever you feel like? I tried drawing every day as a resolution for 2025 but I only lasted about two weeks.
>>7617907 Not OP, but I tried that too, got burned out even faster and am now trying again. I think it helps not sweating missing a day too much, life gets in the way sometimes.

>>7617907 I do a 50/50 of practice to fully rendered drawings of game characters I like. Practice is usually copying ref's, drawing from life, box's ect. As far as keepin it going long term I'm not sure what to tell you. Wanting to become objectivley good started overidding my desire to play games and now I'm a bit obsessive with drawing that I sometimes skip meals.

I only don't draw if I have a lot going on and am too stressed to get into some drawing like if I've got exams. I'll still probably doodle though. I think it's good to have daily targets like an hour of gesture or something if you can stick to it.
>>7617902 (OP) I draw everyday, it's just a habit to doodle, and take it further if I feel like it.

I dont have the willpower to draw more than an hour a day. I wasn't born with that ability.

>>7617902 (OP) I draw every day for a minimum of 30 minutes, up to 12 hours if I have the time, but as a wagie I'm usually only able to squeeze in 4 hours max during weekdays

>>7617902 (OP) I've only missed 2 weeks out of the whole year so far. I've even been really sick for the past two weeks but I've still been drawing.
>>7617907 It depends. I'm currently going through a course right now so I have a schedule and assignments but usually I just do 50/50 free drawing and studies. And don't beat yourself up for missing a day (or a couple). Just get back to drawing.

You for sure draw for like an hour then play games all day. Get a job before your life is over
Yes, i even drew when absolutely hammered. One might be tempted to say that this is just wasted time, but keeping up the habit is worth it.
I drew pic related between 2 vomiting sessions. I was barely able to keep my eyes open and everything was spinning, but there's no good excuse to not draw.
>>7617902 (OP) Yes during my breaks at work with my handy dandy sketchbook. I also do digital art when I have down time from errands, chores and parenting.
>>7617902 (OP) I always sit down for at least five minutes to see if I can get into the zone, so yeah I'm drawing everyday, though I'm not doing a fully picture everyday as there definitely times it's just not clicking and there's no point in going forward.

>>7617902 (OP) Yes, I wanna make my manga a reality. >>7617907 I draw everyday, I start my day by playing gacha game since they motivate me to get out off bed to pc. They also incentivize to only play a few hour. This is way better than getting depressed waking up to draw. Then when I started on drawing I start on the easier parts.

drew every day, 3 hours for 3 years, all it got me was a lot of spinning my wheels, not improving much and burning out. hours drawn is a useless metric on it's own, what's more important is what you spend your time on. in my case, it was just reiterating concepts i already had knowledge of without putting it to any good use. infinite sketches of the same torsos in the same perspectives. lack of application or accrual of new information/technique is much more detrimental to your growth as an artist than a lack of drawing hours.
of course, if you can keep up a busy drawing schedule without being an idiot like me, you'll probably improve so fast it'll make your head spin.
I draw everyday when I'm not in school (uni) but only because I miss it desperately and I have more ideas to draw than I have time. When it's back to the grind I have 0 motivation to draw the looming threat of classes and deadlines and stress makes me draw compulsively on my breaks. Luckily im graduating soon.
>>7619470 we all have different limits, anon. between working a full time job and dealing with various external sources of stress, drawing for a minimum of 3 hours, every day, for that long, took its toll on me. >pyw you'll forgive me for not wanting to associate my work with this place, especially not to satisfy the curiosity of a person who is so needlessly dismissive right off the bat.

>>7617902 (OP) Since this is the question, I'll ask, what to do if you want to draw every day, but you're too tired at work? I come home at 7 pm and have two or three free hours, I'd be happy to spend them drawing, but no. Does anonymous have the same problem? Maybe take some vitamins or something like that?
